Saw the washer fluid heater in the Genos catalog and got to wondering... Won't hot fluid on a cold windshield cause it to break? I have seen guys shatter thier windshield throwing a cup of hot water on it to clear it in winter. Wouldn't this be the same? Anybody have one, comments, please?

I don't think it meant heated to the point of being hot. When being sprayed out of the nozzle it would dissipate ths heat rapidly and do no harm. How much does it heat, does it say?

170*, and it has a note that it will make an existing crack to expand but will not harm the windshield otherwise. I just find it hard to believe it won't hurt it.

Mmmm... . forbidden donut. :)

I betcha dollars to donuts that it won't be 170 fluid if it's -20 out. :) Personally, I want to try this, just because it's frustrating driving through the snow storms in the winter and the windshield wipers become useless... full on defroster helps, but makes it stuffy in the cab, and still doesn't work if it's colder than 25 or so... that fluid heater might do the trick. It probably wouldn't be too hard to throw a thermostat in the power feed and set it to any temp you want, if 170 scares ya. :)

man 170 is quite warm. i know what you guys mean, I don't have heated mirrors and suffer in the winter. I've looked into heated wipers but they look high profile and would flop around at speed. Heated fluid sounds like an IDea, but 170 is quite warm on -20 temps. Then again, I already have a 4 foot crack in mine anyway, what else have I got to lose!
