I don't know if these two items are connected, so I'll ask.
I was installing my gauges last week and was working around the firewall and the left side underdash. I didn't unhook anything while running my leads.
Two days ago, I had to turn on the defroster. The heat control didn't want to move. It was on full heat and I wanted to turn it down a bit. After pushing pretty hard, it went over. I never really noticed if the heat changed that much, as once I was on the road, the windshield cleared itself.
Yesterday I was finally hooking up the gauge lights. I decided to splice into the orange wire on the back of the dashboard gauge cluster. While I had the dash open, I noticed that I had bent the wire that is controlled by the heater switch.
In my haste to straighten it, I've weakened it to the point where it will probably break during the coldest part of the winter.
Questions:
Could I have unhooked something that assists the cable (vacuum?) while running my leads?
Has anyone else had a problem with this?
Thanks!
