Talking to a local dealer about a new truck and was asking him about 2001 updates after july, and he told me that along with rear disc brakes, DC might up the GVWR on the truck line later in the year. Is this possible? I thought that they would have to install heavier springs, axles, frame, etc to up the weight rating. If this is true I may hold out for the heavier 3500 as I am already overweight with my current 3500. Thanks.

Davey,
They can increase the load ratings of the springs, axles, etc real easy. But the issue is the Engine which I feel they tend to under rate a lot. With the new chey powermax coming out Cummins is not going to stand by and get bumped off, so we will probably see and increase in ratings and power.

Not sure about the Super Duty's GVWR, think its about 13000 lbs, the new Duramax Chev is now 12000 lbs, and that leaves us at the back with 11000 lbs. I hope that DC does something about this sooner than later or I may be forced into a Super Duty. Just kidding #ad
