Bought me a new H&K USP Stainless Compact in . 45 APC this week and was wondering if there where any other H&K owners on the board?



I need to know if there are any special maintenace instructions that are not listed in the manual for an H&K? I tore it down and completely cleaned it once I got it home. (man that grease they use in nasty stuff) Just wasn't sure if H&K's had any special little quirks or not?



I haven't put but 16 rounds through it so far but boy is it a sweetheart. Nice little natural pointer, and one sweet shooter. I can't wait to get to the range this weekend and really ring it out.

I have shot them and they are pretty nice but don't own one. I just can't get used to the feeling of a polymer framed gun.

I've had my USP . 40 for about 7 years. Never EVER had a problem with it. Still don't shoot it as well as my Kimber . 45. But that's my problem, not the gun.

I don't think there is a gun I could shoot better than my Kimber. Just something about a 1911 that feels right in your hand.

Ditto the 1911. I have 2 Kimbers in 45, a Colt in 45, and a Springfield in 9mm.

My wife really likes the 1911's and the Kimber is her favorite. I think the slimmer frame works well with small hands.

You still can't go wrong with the H&K

The 1911 frame definitely fits my hand(s) better. FWIW, my nephew [the undercover fed narc cop] carried a HK . 45 when he worked for local LE before he went to the feds. Says he loved it and it never failed him. When he got into the big leagues his issue gun from the feds was/is a Sig P229 in . 357 Sig cal. [and an M-16 ]. Says he hits center of mass at 50 yds consistently [rapid fire] with the Sig. 'Course he was doing that with the HK too. Should I believe that? He's never been a braggart so I tend to think it's true. He is a good marksman - last deer was a heart shot at 100 yds in Ohio, i. e. shotgun slug. One thing for sure, he didn't get rid of the HK.

If he's consistently hitting center mass RAPID FIRE from 50 yds. he's in the wrong profession. 25 yards is usually the max distance to shoot from w/ pistol. I question it. But if it's true he should be in target competition. Wait, I don't think there's any money in that. Stick with busting dopers.

Scooter, Ya know, I remember when he told me that I said, "50 yds - bull$#!!, you mean 25. " He said, "No, 50. Wanna go out back and see for yourself?" [I didn't] He also said, "I'm not talking all headshots or bullseyes, but center of mass for sure. " He was #1 on the range in his class at Quantico, so maybe it's true. BTW, he does make nice money chasing dopers.

That makes sense to me. Probably the 8 ring. If it had been X he'd probably have it framed and mounted on his wall. No matter, he IS a good shot and when he's working he's one of those guys who has no humanity in his eyes at all. If you can see thru the sunglasses, that is. Sunglasses = part of "The Look".



As for the 12 ga, that's about my speed. Yep, pack of bad dogs and a 12ga.

I saw this nice Springfield 1911 Operator model at the Gun Shop when I bought my H&K and I think I'm going back to buy it tomorrow.

As for the pistols, i don't know much, but do like Kimber pistols. Dear Santa...

I have two H&K's, USP 9 and 45. Everybody says Glock, when talking LE weapons. Glock's are alright, but the H&K's are the best of the poymer's. Kimber's are awesome. When I decide to get a 1911 that will be the one. Have never had a problem with either of mine. Sent roughly 1000 to 1500 rds a year through each. All of our training is based on center mass. Shoulder level to waist and armpit to armpit. 50 yard center mass consistently with an auto is tough. We train no more than 25yds with the autos. Over that is reserved for other weapons.



For your other questions: Follow the manual and you will be fine.

i've got a Smith & Wesson 1911 that i bought a few months ago and that thing fits my hand perfectly. from what i understand, smith & wesson makes the frames for kimber's handguns. the smith i have sure shoots nice. couldn't believe how accurate it is at 30 or 40 yds. how does it compare to the H&K?

Forrest you saw my sweet shooting on Sunday didn't you (and very nice to meet you by the way)! In all seriousness though, I am still pretty bad at pistol. On Sunday I was more interested in Kirk's AR-15 and picking off stuff at 100 yards.



As for a pistol though, I was looking at Sigs. The H&K sounds sweet but those are a little expensive for my first handgun.
