Yes, my tach works like it's suppose to, no jumping or anything unusual. Which anwsers the question I was just getting ready to look for in the other postings, how would I know if the ckp was working. So, Thanks for the thought. By the way I used up most of a can of freeze spray trying to find what it is that works when it is cold but shuts it down as soon as it starts to warm up. I even removed the cover from the vp44 but didn't find much inside to spray, I did cool it down but it didn't make any diff. I cooled off the MAP and IAT and even tryed cooling down the ECM and the electrical connections for each of them but, still no start. I have read somewhere in another post about an internal temp sensor inside the vp44. An one know if you can change the electrical section of the vp44 without removing it from the truck, or is this a repair shop only type thing?

Thanks, Tim

I have heard that a VP44 electrical failure is a repair shop only fix. I have been wanting to try something though. I use a company called Test Point for electrical repairs. They fix anything with a "green board" in it. Not many companies do this type of thing. They usually are able to beef up the failed components so the problem goes away. I am real curious to see if they can fix the electrical portion of a VP44. These guys fix PLC's and speed drives etc. so it should not be over thier head. I don't know how to tell what killed a VP.

Ok, today I pulled the codes again, only thing I found was a fuel sending unit again, and a po1693. So, I set up the reader to check the system live and it came back with "error module ($15) not responding" anyone know what module that is? I also pulled the ECM off and stuck it in the freezer to see if I got it cold if my problem would go away for a little while, but no luck. I did read in another post that Cummins has a test box that can run the pump by itself, anyone know where I might borrow one from?

Thanks, Tim

Had a Kind of the same problem. Except truck would go dead pedal. Changed the APPS or also called the control throttle, part # 3970085. Got it from Cumnins for about 350. 00 Fixed the problem. Might check the APPS.

Used a OBD II reader to do a live read yesterday and it was reading the apps info just fine. What it did say was that Module ($15) was not responding. Anyone know what module that is?

My truck is at the dealer same prob. The only thing the tech has found is if he cracks the fuel line loose at the fuel rail it sprays fuel but still runs. If he cracks the same line loose at the injector tube the truck will shut down. It does not run rough and stall it just shuts down. Maybe all trucks do this but I don't know and if they do then why. Can I find a wire diagram on a website for fuel and engine sensors?
