B&W Companion Hitch install help

Problem with my Prodigy

Backing the new (to us) trailer into the driveway. Decided that I didnt need the wife's eyes in the back and that I could see ok.

CRUNCH!!

Rear of trailer towards top hit drain gutter on corner of house. It cut about a 4" long slice in the aluminum siding of the trailer.

Is there plastic/rubber patch for this type of thing? Pretty sure aluminum this thin is not weldable...

Check with a local HVAC installer. They use a mastic that is made for different metals and seals and holds through all temp and humidity ranges.

It would be dangerous to weld because of the interior walls, but there is a product that is sold at various sportsman events around here (hunter and fisherman shows) that is brazing rods for aluminum. It works like solder and you use a torch. It works on thin aluminum up to 1/8 inch. Heat it with a propane torch and it aluminum solders cuts. It's sold to make repairs to Jon boats and other aluminum stuff. The demo looked pretty impressive. I would just be concerned about catching something on fire inside.

Now if you took it to a welder with MIG/TIG equipment they could do the spot weld thing multiple times reducing the fire hazard and when ground down makes a pretty nice seam. Four inches wouldn't cost too much. :-laf

3 inch wide Stainless steel tape. Put three or four layers on and it will be almost as thick as the aluminum siding on the trailer and that stuff sticks to a clean surface and will stay on there until you pull it off. Paint it white and call it good. You can get it at any Hardware store or Automotive store.
