First off I want to tell everyone with an auto trans. . CHECK YOUR LINES

Mine were clipped together right in front of the trans pan.

The vibration wore a spot in them until they were so thin they split.

The split was approx 8" long on both lines.

Now here's what happened... .

Was refilling truck after a 200 mile trip.

I had noticed the truck shifting funny for the last few miles... softer I guess.

I chocked it up to my imagination.

While filling I noticed alot of oil on the tailpipe, I looked under the truck and there is oil everywhere.

After returning home I found the lines I mentioned above.

I had tried to move the truck the following day before finding the lines.

It wouldn't move.

I repaired the lines temporarily. Put in 6 quarts to start with, put it in gear and let it Idle.

Put in Nuetral-Checked fluid it was overfull. I ran it thru the gears and checked it again.

Still overfull. Decided to take it down the road and park it closer to the house.

It shifted fine, then the TC locked, it didn't unlock.

Now from a dead stop if I just barely put fuel to it it will sometimes move along easily.

Sometimes it will go to full lock and kill the truck or act like a stick shift.

I drained the excess, still acted the same.

I unhooked the TPS, it made no difference.

Truck has a Dunrite Valvebody with a lockup switch. Stock replacement style TC

Any ideas??? A little desperate here.

Thanks, KO

I've been looking at coolers, just for the reason you stated.
I'd rather spend a little money and not have to worry about trash in my transmission.
I don't think cooling will be any problem with the new transmission.
Robbiesworld... do you use a thermal bypass on your cooler?

I did not use the thermal bypass. It's sitting on my table in the shop. I think cooling becomes an issue when you aren't getting airflow thourgh the cooler, with my old cooler I would get my transmission hot trying to push through snow. Now since I have bypassed the stupid sensor that kept throwing my truck out of lockup I have no idea if the transmission is getting hot. I just wanted a completely clean system for the new transmission.
