help anyone wanna buy rickson wheels/tires? i got into a bad situation

hey, guys i really need your help.

i got into a really bad situation with a fellow tdr member... despite all the touchy feely stuff that's been going on the list lately there are bad apples we need to steer clear of. i answered an ad posted by the unscruplous brad tweist (near pittsburgh) on the tdr in august. he had a set of used rickson wheels and tires for sale. i thought it was a good deal especially since he told me shipping was only $100 (!!). i was/am on a budget, but thought i could pull it off given that i could sell the centerlines that came with the truck. i know i should have checked shipping costs and now i'm getting burned. the cheapest shipping i can find is $350!! he refuses to drive the tires 55miles to pitts airport to save me $50! and the lying pendejo mutherf#(&er refuses to share the cost or trouble of shipping or refunding my money.

so my question to the good people of tdr is do you or anyone you know in the pitsburg area that wants to take over the deal? comes with the ss wheel simulators. my recommendation is to pick them up so that i can throw in a couple of bucks for you to give him an a$$ kicking his father should have given him regarding the golden rule in dealing with others.

C'mon guys. Aren't there a few of us who can get together somehow to get these wheels and tires from Pittsburgh out to San Francisco?

I occasionally drive from my house (near Cincinnati) to Pittsburgh, so I can get them as far as Cincinnati, or possibly Indianapolis. Can anyone else take them from here on out to the west coast?

It might be a month or two before you see them, Americana, but you might get your wheels after all.

Does anyone think this might work?

loren, loren, loren..... a million thanks to your golden and precious offer, i am touched. as my father used to say (and sometimes i do things stupid enough to warrant him saying it again... i just haven't told him of this latest fiasco) i got myself into this and i'll get myself out. if i can't unload the wheels/tires in a quick sale i'll take it in the shorts and pay the $350. again i don't want to offend you, loren, indeed i thank you offering this stranger such a gracious favor, but i'd be too embarrased to accept.

i will post to this thread no matter what happens.

Sounds like we have someone in Pitt to handle the issue. Further... if you can ship them from & to a business address, the shipping cost is slightly less. I know UPS does this, I'm not sure about USPS or Fed Ex ground. (AKA:RPS)

For example, shipping a steel cart to my house from Northern hydraulics, $35. Shipping it to my work, $21.

FWIW: shipping 4 Alcoas from NY to PA cost $40.

This may sound like a dumb suggestion but did you consider telling UPS it is much lighter and much smaller than you initially told them. Smaller boxes seem to be cheaper in my experience with UPS. Something does not sound right at $350. 00

FWIW 2 wheels with mounted tires and 2 wheels alone (4 items total)from Florida to PA. $45. 00 ground UPS

americana, i purchased a set of rickson's for my 3500 4X4 around Christmas time. if i remember right, shipping all six tires and wheels from maryland to florida via UPS was $106. 00 btw- after 7500 miles they are the best improvement i've ever made on a truck!

dude, you need to give ups a call and talk about rates. You can EASILY get this done for $40 per wheel/tire. You can even get lower if you can somehow manage to package them up in a two shipments of two wheels/tires apiece without exceeding ups limits on length+girth. Easiest thing to do is just use heavy duty reinforced packing tape to bind two wheels together, stick the address label on it and fudge the measurements over the phone to ups to squeez in their requirements, which are going to be cloes anyway. Have ups pick them up and pay with a check(made out in acvance of course t in the amount you were quoted. ) Guarantee you they will throw them in the truck and deliver them. I've done this same thing a few times myself. I would say that the $100 this guy told you won't be that far off in the end. Hopefully this will work out for the best and i wish you luck, but calling out another member as a lying motherf#$er in front of 6000 other members is no way to resolve a dispute.

If I could help you I would, unfortunately, all I can say is sorry to hear about it but glad to see you posted as it seems that the good guys, the vast majority of this sites members, are already working on a fix for you. Keep the faith, there's always a few bad apples no matter where you are, IMHO.
