New Toy -- the DashDAQ

Optima and Auto Zone

A friend asked me if I could find out what kind of turbo he stumbled across.

Its large enough to be used as the bottom charger in a set of twins, and he's considering building a set for his 95 2500.

Its a large Schwitzer however the I. D. tag was a little beat up so here's the best I could get.

18630

4LE-2

216647B

On the exhaust housing it also had

SD682341

280NOD

Its going to need a rebuild so he's wondering if its even worth it, however we do have an in with the local turbo shop. Oh yeah exh. housing also had "Muffling Device" in raised letters. :-laf

Pictures?

New S400's can be had for ~$600 from most turbo shops.

Well I might be able to get one in a day or two. This turbo was free, but definately needs a rebuild. However knowing some guys at a local turbo/pump shop we could probably get it done for less than $600.

So anybody else have any info on this model?

My main point on the price was you'd be getting new technology, not old. What engine, brand, size make etc did the charger come off of?

Sorry no offense intended. Trying to be thrifty, but resonable with this since it can be a expensive project quickly. I'm not sure what it came off of, I will get a picture posted tonight.

None taken;). Sucks to do things twice. I just see alot where guys will try to build their twins with an old dinosaur as their big charger. They are usually easy to come by at a junkyard, but the good ones, well they don't come in that often on a core motor.
