After the last few weeks of trying to diagnose a sudden drop in fuel mileage, I found seepage in between the Injection pump and the gear case, today. Do any of you think that this could be where my mileage went? It does not seem to be enough to make a drip, at least not when engine is just luke warm, but when wiped off, it takes only about 10 seconds to get wet again. I am thinking that maybe when the engine is warmed up, and the fuel also, maybe it seeps much faster, but dries off right away.
Is the only way to fix this is to get a new pump? Can this pump be resealed? Or would it not be worth it with 170,000 miles on it? Someone with more knowledge on these pumps please help.
