I'm ready to install guages into my 99 and I want to do it "right" the first time. I've searched and searched for an answer to my question but to no avail. So it's time to ask the experts.

First off, I want all my guages to match (each other as well as the factory guages). i. e. black faces, red needles, white markings, etc. So far, not much of a problem right? Well here's the pickle:

I want to monitor boost, EGT, and lift pump fuel pressure. I want fuel pressure senders both before and after the filter so I can use a switch to see pressure on both sides and I want the fuel pressure guage inside the cab. This means electric fuel pressure senders & guage (not mechanical). The only electric fuel pressure guage I can find is from Auto Meter. Auto Meter will do me just fine, except their boost guage only goes to 35psi. If I want more than that, they've got a blower pressure guage that goes to 60psi, but it's only available in 2 5/8". That would be OK too except I want to mount them on the dash and I can't find a 2 5/8" dash pod. (AAAAaaaaahhhhhhhh).

So (finally the real question(s)):

Do I "get by" with a 35psi boost guage?

Do I fabricate a 2 5/8" dash pod (I really don't want to do that)?

Does anyone know of an ELECTRIC fuel pressure guage (0-15 or 20 psi range) other than Auto Meter?

Does anyone know of a 2 5/8" dash pod?

Will a BOMBed 24-valve produce more than 35 pounds of boost? (I know I could just let it peg, but after going to the trouble of installing guages, I'd like them to read correctly. )

Any help would be much appreciated.....

boost depends on the amount of bobmbing you do , with the va , 275 injectors and a boost module a 35psi gauge would be ok , on a rare occasion you might go above 35 , but thats only when you're full throttle for extended period or pulling a real heavy load up a steep and long grade ... so if you don't plan on doing mods to run you above 35psi you're all set .

35psi is alot of boost. How far are you gonna take your BOMBing? My DD stage II kit hits 34psi of boost. To go beyond 35psi,you would have to add a Blue Box on top of DD II or III injectors. Is that what you're after?

A vulgar display of power!

My "needs" are (in order):

1) Fun,
2) Increased fuel economy,
3) Occasional towing (10-12k gooseneck) at 80mph on 6-8% grades.
4) Outdoing (beating) my hunting buddies
5) Spanking Fords (Oh wait, I already said "Fun")

My BOMBing mod plans are (in order):

1) Guages,
2) Psychotty Air,
3) 4" turbo-back,
4) 4-wire Blue Box or TST PM1,
5) Clutch upgrade,
6) Turn up the Blue Box or upgrade to PM2,
7) RV injectors or DD Stage 1's or 2's (depending on smoke???),
8) What else???... ... .....

I thought about doing injectors before the box, but I don't want to have to buy a boost module and then throw it away later because the box has one built in. So doing the box first is another reason I want the fuel pressure guage.

I may find a point along the way where I'm happy with the power and not complete all the above mods.

Back to the initial question though, If I buy a 35psi guage and find a point along the way where I'm happy with the power and I haven't exceeded 35# boost, then everything's hunky-dory. However, if I do exceed 35# boost I'm in the same decision quandry I'm in right now: build a 2 5/8" pod or live with the boost guage hitting the peg.

My 1st choice is to not be limited (now or in the future). I realize we don't always get our first choice, but I'm still looking...

More info on mods/hp vs. boost would also be appreciated...

Thanks all, keep it coming.

The only electric fuel pressure gauge I was able to find was Stewart Warner (see them at http://www.xks.com/SW%20Pages/swgauge7.html ) - it's a 0-16 psi gauge. I looked for autometers but couldn't find one - which autometer gauge did you find? Here's my plan - I have DiPricol Boost and EGT gauges up on the a-pillar with a dual mount, where I can monitor them all the time. They have white numbers, orange hash marks and orange needles (the needle is lit on the boost gauge but unforetunately not on the EGT gauge - although I've heard that it now is). I'm going to mount my stewart warner fuel pressure gauge (black face, white numbers and hash marks and a white needle) in one of the donut mount kits from Geno's down below the dash since I don't think you need to monitor it all the time. I figure since that gauge will be so far from the others it won't be that noticable that it's different.

Thanks for the tip on the SW guages. I took a look at them -- WOW, great prices!!!. Do you know anything about reliability, quality, etc. ?????

I found the Auto Meter guage on their web site www.autometer.com. They have 3 models of electric fuel pressure guages:
Pro-Comp 2 5/8" page 58, #5461
Sport-Comp 2 5/8" page 37, #3361
Sport-Comp 2 1/16" page 37, #3561.

Stewart warner is supposed to make some really great stuff. I had called Isspro looking for the fuel pressure gauge and that's where they sent me. I should have my gauge in a couple of days (it was back ordered for over a month) but I'll be out of town from friday-monday at the sand dunes. I'll post my thoughts on it when I get it.

Steve,

Did you notice they have a RED needle fuel pressure guage (the "Track Force" series). Looks like it might be a good match if you're interested. Only about a buck more expensive...
www.xks.com/SW%20Pages/swgaug11.html

In fact, they also have a 40-psi boost guage if I was willing to live with a vacuum portion on the face that would never get used. Trouble is they don't have a pyro to match any of their 40psi boost guage, just pyros that match their 30-psi boost guages AAAAuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Kyle!!!!! I had looked and looked and didn't notice that you could get those with either a black or stainless bezel. I wanted it to match as best as possible and the stainless wouldn't have matched at all. The track-force gauge with the black bezel is a near 100% match for the DiPricol boost and EGT gauge I have. If you went with that combo I'm sure you'd be happy with it. My boost gauge is a 0-60 psi unit and the egt gauge is from 0-1500 degrees with the red marked at 1300. I got the DiPricol gauges from TST ( http://www.tstproducts.com ) - they don't have a pic on the web page of them though. I could take a picture with my digital camera of mine and email it to you if you'd like.
