Happy thanksgiving to the smart turkey.

She thinks that fords use something different than glow plugs in their engines. Is this the case or do they still use glow plugs? I can't get her to bow down to my extensive knowledge of diesel trucks :-laf

Try as I might, I can't get her to address me as "His Majesty" either. :D

I'm pretty sure that they still use glow plugs, not to mention alot of optimistic thinking and a Cummins powered pull pal for winter starts! :-laf

Oh boy! She doesn't believe any of you. She says you're all wrong and that she's waiting for a "correct" answer. She wants an expert to set me straight. Any ford mechanics out there that can confirm this further? I can't wait to win this bet.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm no Ford mechanic but when I worked at a diesel shop I replaced a few glow plugs in acouple Fords. The name glow plug is kinda misleading as they don't really look like a "plug" per say. The look like a long skinny injector w/o the holes in the tip really.

Whether you are right or not is irrelevant, you know your right, you let her think she is right. That way you know your smarter and you get to sleep in a warm bed. Double win.

EDIT: incase you feel like winning and sleeping in the dog house, here is a segment from a Ford service page:

The 6. 0 has glow plugs to aid in cold weather starting and reduce emissions. Due to the limited space under the valve covers, the glow plugs needed to be moved outboard of the valve sets. This arrangement allows the glow plugs to be removed through the holes through which the the harness connectors pass without having to remove the valve cover. It also means the glow plugs have to pass through the water jacket, so they now have sleeves similar to those on the injectors. The glow plugs are actuated by the same Glow Plug Control Module found on the 2000 and up California 7. 3.

Even if you are right it won't matter, she will always win. Women always hold all the good cards, so fold now and sleep warm tonight.

I think you should be careful, if you win you might be in for a cold winter sleeping with the dog. At (in) his house! ;) :-laf

Yeah we all know that they have glow plugs, but I bet the converstions at the dinner table at your house must be pretty interesting!

well the way i understand it and if you want i will double check it w/ a buddy of mine who used to work at a ford dealership specificly replacing turbos but they way i undertsand it they have glow pulgs and a grid heater or something of the sort to heat the incoming air so if i am right(remember im not 100% sure) they you are both right they have glow pulgs and they have something else and to the cold starts ive never had a ford that has ahd a problem w/ cold weather

well it was pretty easy to get my wife to refer to me as royalty... ... ... her royal pain in the :--)

Just remember the woman always gets the last word. Anything the man says after that is the beginning of a new argument!

No such thing friend... . I have learned after 19 years of marital bliss  that I don't debate with my wife. Better to let her find out on her own and save face. Usually winds up with some special unexplained rewards when she learns the truth on her own. :-laf :-laf

BTW--you are right about the glow plugs.

Bwaaahhhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaaahhhhhh!

After 28 years of marrage, I've learned two things. One, when she wins the argument, you lose. And two, when you win the argument, you lose. :-laf

Better get on your hands and knees now, and ban her from this particular thread. You lost the bet no matter how right you thought you were. You will never be as smart as her so just walk in with your tail between your legs, and apologize now... It will be easier to say I am sorry for being right hun :D .
