Here's the story. I am moving from New Mexico to Texas. I am out in Texas at the new job and my wife and kids are back in New Mexico, for about another week and a half. My truck, is back in New Mexico, at a friends house needing a new steering box. My wife in the mean time is driving our little commuter car, but it gets picked up in about a week to be shipped out here to Texas, and hence forth she will need the truck then to get out here. I went to order a new PSC steering box, but it has on there website that it might not even ship for another 2 weeks.

Long story short I need a new steering box ASAP!!!!! Can anyone help? I would really like to put a psc in instead of some OEM replacement. PS: I also have to put in a new power steering pump, but that looks like it can be shipped right away.

Thanks

Russ

You should call PSC... They have excellent customer service and I bet you they will get one out to you pronto... I read on here that a steering box off of a chevy surburgan from the 92-99 will fit right onto the dodge... Good luck. .

You read right... . I did it to my 02. In stock at the local chain store, about $75 cheaper than the Dodge, and at about 2. 75 turns L/L it was a HUGE improvement over my 4. 25 box... . I think I asked for a 96 half ton box, dosen't matter they are all bolt in and the same for all chevys... .

Try napa on 2nd street thats were i have gotton my last @. I have had no problem with ether. The napa is downtown on 2nd Alb NM.

A quick warning on the NAPA Boxes. One of my good buddies owns a NAPA store, so of course I get most of my parts from him. Last year I replaced 6... . yes 6 steering boxes before I got one that is kinda good. They all had different problems. If I remember right, the first one had no assist to the right, second had no assist in either direction at idle, 3rd one had a bent pitman shaft, 4th one the end of the pitman shaft was mushroomed for beating on it... don't remember after that.

The one I have now has crummy assist at idle.

Other people have had better luck with them, but I'd never do one again.

I've had great luck with their lifetime wheel bearings though. Almost 200K on them now.
