I have the bully Dog fuel pump on my truck. When I go to start it some times it will have 14 psi of fuel and other times 2psi. The pump is running but no pressure. If I open the valve on the filter, Fuel comes out. Is the pump going bad and can you rebuild them

I had the same setup before I switched to Autometer. I used to get false readings sometimes too. Apparently, some air got into the fluid lines. My guess would be to bleed any air out of the system and see if that helps.

If it's not the gauge...

If you actually open up the fuel filter, can you see/hear fuel being pumped into the filter assembly when the lift pump is on? Check your codes and post them if that can be done conveniently. Have you noticed any performance problems or just noticed the problem because of the gauge?

If I take the line off the fuel filter cap that goes to my isolater and turn the pump on I do not get any fuel. I am not near my truck to get the codes I will get them later.

sounds like a pump then!

it may have a pressure return built into the pump, its a spring and a valve if it sticks open then you will get no pressure

you may be able to take it apart and clean it, if there is no filter before the pump you may want to put a small one inline

Sounds like it may be a pump to me as well. I was going to say check the fuel filter too as a possible cheap solution, but if you're getting NO fuel, then I doubt it would only be a filter.

I found the problem. I was using one of the AL. fuel filter caps with the hole in the top for your pressure gage. The rubber on the top of the fuel filter was blocking the hole. Thats why I was not getting any fuel pressure.
