2012 Dodge; 2wd,lb, cc, auto, 30k miles.
"Check Engine" light came on just prior to getting the vehicle smogged. After 10 days of being in local Dodge dealer, it was determined that the "02" sensor was faulty. Sensor replaced, "check engine" light went off and vehicle successfully passed smog test. Hooked my 5th wheel up (37ft 13K loaded) and hit the road a short road trip to the Central Coast.
Vehicle had no "pulling power", on grades where I used to be able to maintain 60mph, with the cruise on, the truck would not exceed 50mph with the gas pedal floored!! Took the truck back to the dealer. This time they found "an exhaust leak at the EGR bypass valve, leaking past valve bushing. Replaced EGR cooler bypass."
Hooked up my 5'er today........same thing! NO POWER!
Drove the truck and 5'er to dealer. Mechanic plugged in his computer and we went for a test drive. According to his laptop readings there were "no codes" and all the readings were normal.... fuel pressure good, boost at 27lbs..... He said MAYBE my trailer brakes were out of adjustment, and that might be the cause for the very dramatic lack of power....
Took the 5'er to my RV shop. We jacked up all the wheels and spun the tires...they spun freely. The laser thermometer was getting readings of 107 -115 on all brake drums..
None of this started until the "02" sensor was changed...and therefore, to me, who has NO mechanical knowledge, seems the most likely source of my problem.
