Right Brake Pull.......possible fix

I'm getting ready to install larger injectors in my 12v. I've read the DD instructions and the instructions in the Service Manual. The SM says: "(4) Thoroughly clean the area around the injector. (5) Hit the injector body with a brass drift to loosen it. (6) Hold the injector body with one wrench while removing the injector nut with another. (7) It may be necessary to tap the injector with an injector puller tool. "
DD's instructions say: (13) using a 15/16" deep socket loosen each injector retaining nut. (14) Screw the injector puller tool supplied into each injector in turn and using a pry bar remove the injectors. " The injector tool looks like a nut with the same threads as the injector nut.
The SM makes it look like the injectors are really snug and need to be jarred loose. DD makes it sound a lot simpler... just pry it out. Can anyone shed some light on the different approaches... what works; what doesn't? Do I need to buy the removal tool or will the threaded nut work? If it's the nut, what size is it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Removal can be anywhere from easy (a new engine, they come out by grabbing them with your fingers and pulling them out after loosening the retaining nuts) to dang near impossible on an engine with a gazillion hours and lost dust seals and water in the injector bores.

Since I don't know what yours are like, I can't say how hard it will be. What we use is a home-made puller, consisting of long threaded rod with a nut on the end that screws onto the injector. Then, we have a section of steel tubing that fits over the injector and the threaded rod fits through a hole in the end. A nut screwed onto the threaded rod is spun with a wrench to pull the injector out of the hole - straight up.

I've seen a picture of a tool that consisted of about the same thing, except it was made into a mini slide hammer. I don't suggest prying against the little bolt that holds the return lines on. It's rather fragile. If I had nothing else, I'd try to find a nut that fit those threads, and use it to grab onto and pull out, either by prying or with large pliers or vice grips.

I have been informed that the injector thread size is metric 14 x 1. 5 for building an injector puller.

I beleive the threads are 12x1. 5 on the 5. 9 B series engines. Power Wagon, am I correct?

I'll measure them right now, since I happen to be at the shop.

Ve pump - 93 is 12 X 1. 5
p7100 94-98 is 14 X 1. 5

does that help?

After I posted that I also measured a set and found M14x1. 5. The SNAP ON catalog has M12 listed for the 5. 9 B series engines, that is where I got that. I have a OTC puller on order, I better check what tip I am getting!
