Small Powerful Flashlights

pimpslapped another mustang

My boy has the above mentioned truck and the other day, I turned the key and nothing. Checked battery, full charge. Checked across solenoid relay, good voltage. Got it started via the scredriver across the solenoid relay trick. Figured it must be the relay, purchased and replaced it. When going to put the battery cables back on, negative cable wants to start the truck when I go to put it back on the battery??? Is the switch on the column my culprit? I'm thinking it must be if the battery cable is wanting to turn the starter over even though the key is out and the ignition is in the "off" position. Should the ignition switch/cylinder be my next replacement? I'm a decent wrench but hate diagnosing electrical gremlins. Any help greatly appreciated.

Check to see if the pos. battery cable and the wire that energizes the starter solenoid aren't rubbed through and touching. Had that happen to me on a Mack CH truck. Had to dissconnect the batteries quickly, so the starter wouldn't burn up.

Another thought would be, the solenoid on the starter. Could be sticking.
