My 03 started acting up about 20 miles ago. It was making a lot of ignition rattle and surging. If I applied any throttle it would immediately rev up to about 3000 rpm with a lot of black smoke and bucking. Not long after it quit. I pulled over and changed the fuel filter and it started again and ran normal for about 5 miles then started doing it again. I was able to get off and to a Wal-Mart where I purchased some power service. When I came out and put it in the truck started normally and I let it idle. In less than a minute it started rattling and surging at idle then quit and won't start again.

How cold is it there right now??? I assume it has winter fuel in it??? Do you have another filter with you or was that the only spare???

How far had you driven today before it starting acting out???

Did you buy Power Service 911 in the red bottle or did you get the regular Power Service white bottle version???

Mike.

Fixed. . Thanks to Todd at T&C diesel. There was water in the connector for the rail pressure sensor. Thanks for the reply Mike.

Once again Thanks Todd.

Will remember that one, for sure.

Glad you are rolling again. How cold is it??? About 25 here. And snowing...

I was going to suggest removing the Quadzilla/Edge... . glad you corrected the problem, water in the rail pressure sensor...

Interesting discovery. Now it makes me curious what signal the water in the rail pressure sensor was messing with and how it affected things.
I don't fully understand how all the electronics on these trucks work.

The rail pressure showing on my edge CTS was fluctuating from 1800 to 2800 psi

I disconnected the quadzilla when I first pulled over to change the fuel filter. The Edge is just a monitor that plugs in the interior port under the dash.
