I could use some help/opinions about my truck. For the past 6-8 months my truck has an occasional long crank starting condidtion, and SLIGHT rough idle condition. I'm probably the only one that can feel the rough idle because it is so slight, but various fuel additives have helped a bit. Slight drop in fuel economy, but between different Smarty/TST settings, ULS diesel, it could be coincedence. I'm running Smarty at 60hp no timing newest version on their website, and TST 3x2. My truck has never seen a pressure box.
What has me concerned though, is that when I start the truck first thing in the morning, it will smoke white/gray smoke. It will not clear up while idling, or stopped in gear. For the first few miles it will continue to leave a slight haze under normal accelleration, but it is hard to tell if it is white/gray=bad or brown/gray=ok. After driving 5-10 miles 9 times out 10 the smoke at idle is gone. Power seems fine. Smoke turns black while fueling hard under low boost.
What usually goes on the injectors, the tips or the bodies? In my case I've never run a pressure box.
If it is 1 or more leaky injectors, is it bad to run the truck light duty like this for a while?
Do rail pressure relief valves fail often?
Thanks
