I flush my brake fluid every couple of years and have never had any signs of a problem with my brakes. This past weekend I was on a fairly steep down hill grade with a 10K trailer behind me and while holding the brake pedal down while trying to get the truck into low range and reverse, it felt kind of soft and I could feel a constant pulsating coming through the pedal. The brakes held and I haven't noticed anything else out of the ordinary. Is this a problem in the making or is this normal under these conditions? I do believe my foot may have been almost to the floor to keep the truck from rolling.

TIA,

Dan

I have an old Chrysler with about the same vintage of ABS as your truck... . When there is wheel slip, (sliding) and one or two of the wheels are locked the ABS system will start to work... . you will feel a pulse in the pedal and it sometimes feels like the brake pedal is close to the floor... .

I don't have enough information to really diagnose the problem, but what your sharing is close to what I've felt in the past and it was a normal event... .

Is it normal to be able to push the pedal all the way to the hard stop? When doing this the pedal feels hard at first and then feels different towards the end of the stroke. Other vehicles I've tried this with feel the same throught the stroke.

As far as I know, I was completely stopped and not moving.

Thanks,

Dan
