I changed out my dead injection pump with a Piers high volume pump today. Things went pretty good. It isn't something I would like to do everyday. Number 6 HP line to the injector was a bear to get to. The steering wheel puller worked to pull the gear. For anybody else doing this I would add a 3/4" crows foot to the list of things you will need. I bleed the air and it started, run ruff and then smoothed out. Sounds real good. Took it for a test drive and could not get above 20 LBS boost and had high exhaust temperatures. I have an original TST level one boost box. RV injectors. 4" exhaust. AFE Intake filter, Fass, B&D exhaust brake and transmission mods. I have been getting 30 lbs of boost every since I put on the TST box. The TST box will not add fuel or boost. I have problems a couple of times before with the TST box with loose connections and blown fuses. Checked all that. Still won't add the fuel. Is there reason the TST box won't work with the high output pump? I would think the upgrade with the pump would be mechanical and the TST box with would be electronic. Does anybody know? Does anyone have any idea on what I can check? I ran through the check list on the TST have the yellow light but do not get the green light indicating it is adding fuel.

Thanks in advance.

Good Question Steve. I started by placing both pumps on the work bench and taking the connector off the old one and putting it on the new one. After the test run with bad results I got out the original directions I got with the TST box and went through the illustrations and they matched. I tried a different connector. I checked for connectivity. No less than 3 times I took off the thorttle cabel assembly and checked the wires. Your questoin is very valid and is still going through my head. I am going to check again after a night's sleep to make sure.

Could the wires be different on a high volume pump? On the directions of the TST box it says on a stock pump... .

Thanks Steve, I apprecaiate the help.

Cheked all boost hoses today. Chaqnged the intake manifold gaskets Took some volt reading on the TST plug checked out OK. Still only 20 bs of boost and high EGT.

Wife says she can hear an air leak under the dash. I cant. CHecked my gage line. Is there anything else under there that could be leaking.

If I jumped timing wihen puting the pump in would it still run good and cause high EGT. Wouldn't I get a code? Checked the key also. With I mirrow I am almost sure I can see it.

Stumped, what have I messed up?

Is the green light on the PM3 coming on when you get on the throttle and get brighter with more boost? If so it's connected to the pump and adding fuel. That would eliminate that side of it. Since your only seeing 20 lbs of boost there could be a boost or an exhaust leak somewhere. Look around the exhaust manifold and see if you can see any soot indicating a leak. Check the split between cylinders 3 and 4 on top and bottom and make sure it isn't cracked. Make sure all your manifold bolts are in (cylinder 6 has a tendency to lose them - there's a TSB on it. If those all check out ok I'd try calling TST and see if they have any ideas for ya. Good luck.

Thanks Steve,

I do not get the Green light on the TST. I called them and they told me to check the voltage between pins 5 and 9 on the nine pin connector. Said I should get 12 volts. I got 12. 48. TST said they have had some of thier boxes go out with the pump. I will call them again today. I still have the same problem if I turn the TST off. I am going to try to disconnect it completely tonight.

I have not checked the exhaust mainfold yet. I will do so tonight after work. Thanks for the advise.

Could this be caused by not putting the pump in right? The tech manual says I would get a code. I just can't help thinking... 30 lbls before the pump change out... 20 after. What did I do wrong when changing the pump?
