This weekend we were pulling our camper up a grade and all of a sudden nothing. I pulled over and move the t-case lever around and at first it wouldn't go into neutral then it did and I got it into 2H. Pulled ahead about 50 ft. and that was it no more. Do you think it is transmission output shaft or t-case related? When I try to put it in gear and let the clutch out it sounds like a bucket of bolts rattling around. If it is the t-case what do you think could the chain break and cause this we weren't in 4 wheel drive. Maybe the t-case is stuck in neutral.

I had a clutch shatter one time that sounded like that. but it was on a toyota..... back in the high school days.

PS Don't try to downshift to 1st at 55 mph... ... . clutches don't like that.

might be an output shaft on the transmission or transfer do you notice any unusual leaks around that area you might be able to check it by takeing off your rear drive line off the axle and leaving it in gear and seeing if it will spin and then i would go from there moving backwards from driveline to transfer to transmission to clutch good luck and keep us posted

Well I got the news from the repair man the whole center of my clutch is blown out. I'm going to call Peter tomorrow the clutch this happened to is a rally clutch installed at 140,000 miles I got 175,000 on it. I've heard good things about them so we'll see I don't feel this should have happened.

Had a similar experience back in march with my OFE. Had roughly 45,000 at decent power levels and lots of towing. Tore the center right out. Absolutely no noise just like it was in neutral. Went with a DD from Peter helped out considerably more than expected. Clutch was years past the warranty. Wasn't looking for any help just wanted a new clutch and he was there. Great company, excellent customer service. Will shop there again.

Well I'm not real impressed with there customer service. I was assured by Peter that this rally clutch would hold to my intended use and hp/torque range. Tried to call Peter today but he was off I talked to someone else and so far I'm not impressed. This clutch failed was told the clutch will hold 700 ft/lb but the springs will not. What good is that. If the springs will not hold that much then they sould only be rated for there weakest link.
