WA soon to be like CA?

new cummins engine Where and how much???

I have tried to get my new tags and registration for about 2 months now. They keep sending me back my check and telling me the I have to go through DEQ smog test. I have owned 3 diesels now and never have had to go through DEQ in Oregon. They even sent me the Frequently asked questions brochure and it clearly states that all diesel PU's that have a GVW rateing of over 8500LBS is exempt.   I keep telling them we are at 8800.

So I have to write this big letter telling them to learn how to do there job. It wouldnt be so bad if it was once but they sent back my check twice after I explained it to them. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Sky,

That's not so bad. The DMV gave my truck to some guy in Turloc. I didn't get it fixed for over a year. I was afraid I would get hauled in for stealing my own truck.

Yep

They did that to me when I first go the 92 so the wife took it down and blow smoke in the faces :D . Haven't had any problems since then. If it's not out of your way then take it down there and open the door so they can read the label.

Co. DMV made me get an E test on mine when it was new, just because I bought it in Ia. Then she registered it as a gasser. She screwed herself and did me a nice favor. Gassers aren't tested as often!!:D Five yrs. before the first retest and every other yr. after that. Oo. Craig

I live in a rural county in CA so there is no smog test for gassers except for when the vehicle changes hands. I don't know of anywhere in the state that diesels are tested. This might have changed in the urban areas lately. You can get a smoke ticket but (as far as I know) you have to work at it to get one.

The DMV is a mess. The law recently changed about handicapped plates for "commercial" vehicles. The weight limit for the plates was raised from 6000 to 8001 lbs. So this year we applied for the plates. The local DMV claimed that we still had to pay the weight fee because the truck weighs more than 6000 lbs. I had to find the rule in the vehicle code and take it to rub their noses in it to avoid the weight fees. The local DMV insisted that Sacramento was wrong and wouldn't budge until I showed it to them.

Ca DMV, you wouldnt believe....

All you California haters would really be busy if you ever had deal with the DVM here. It is a world class joke. At the local branch here, the male counter people look like 97 lb weaklings who have had sand kicked in their face by a bully and then take out their frustations with life on us when we are there. The females all seem to be chain smoking, Rosie O'donnell type man haters, with rear ends so big even Mag-Hytec couldn't make a cover big enough to fit. Guess what their attitude is like! These people give the other civil service workers a bad name.

I live in So Cal, which is the home of the SCAQMD(South coast air quality management district) a true Nazi type organization, who have outlawed gas powered leaf blowers and are after my outdoor barbeque and my lawnmower next. But, as yet, we don't have to have our diesel pickups inspected, but who knows what is coming down the road.

Sam, I think they must have a contest to see who can work the slowest in the local DMV. (Santa Rosa) I would fire most of them if they worked for me. There are a few good ones but it seems like once they get on there, all work ethics go out the window! I really hate going there. In fact, the last time I got my license, I was on a trip and stopped off in Yreka to get it. Didn't have to stand in line! When I bought the Dodge, went to Ukiah instead of Santa Rosa, was much easier and the people were actually friendly! I live in Healdsburg so wasn't much farther to go to Ukiah.

paccool,

If you don't already use it make sure and make an appointment at the Santa Rosa DMV. I've had prompt service and the folks - all women - have been totally professional. I spent about an hour there trying to get a 41 restriction to legally tow a RV 5th wheel between 10,001 - 15,000 lbs. They hadn't ever done one so it took a while to find the written test.

If you think Santa Rosa is bad try going to the DMV in Torrance... ... .

DMV Helena, Montana

When I picked up my truck just over 2 years ago, the guys at my local DMV in Montana, screwed up the spelling of my name on the Title. If I hadn't spotted the glitch in good time, I could have had an even more awkward time - as it was, when I returned from my DTT makeover, (Cheers Bill! :D:D) the US customs officer gave me a hard time with my Montana Tags, British Driver's Licence, International Visitor's vehicle insurance from New York with export shipping documentation bound for Europe... .
