Off Roading Hi-Lift Jack

We were puling a loaded two horse trailer while deer hunting in central Nevada when the axle of the horse trailer clipped a rock and severely bent the axle to the point the wheels on the trailer were turned in. Unloaded the horses and wrapped a chain around the axle to the hi-lift jack and another to the truck hitch and used the jack to pull the axle straight enough to pull the wheels back in line. Never leave home without it!

Great tool as mentioned by many. Get the tallest one you can store. I have the 48" and wish I had the 60" often. As for a lift point, the 2" receiver works to lift the rear (but you need the 60" to do any good). I have used the 48" to get turned around on a side hill road in the mud. Couldn't get the rear wheels out of the ruts to do a 3 point turn. Up on the jack and a kick got the rear wheels out of the ruts. I've had mine for over 20 years.

I own two 60" all cast high lifts. One stays in my service truck and the other goes where it's needed. A very handy accessory to keep with it is a short piece of chain with a standard chain hook on one end and one of those loops that the wrecker drivers use on the other end. It's the one that has several different specialty hooks made for attaching to a vehicle frame. That way you can chain up an axle to keep it from drooping while you jack it up.
#1 thing with these style of jacks is safety. They can be as dangerous as they are useful in the wrong hands.

High lift makes a nifty lil double hook set up to lift from the wheel it self.My trucks have so much droop picking them up from the frame even with my 60'' may not ever get the tires off the ground

With a GVW of 7k they are way over rated, with my skinny butt, I am lucky to lift 4k:-laf

I know they make a sand base, but I went the cheap route and just bolted an old brake rotor to the base of mine. Doesn't tip unless I want it to, great tool.
