I was at the dealer today having yet MORE warranty work done to my truck and the service manager was telling me that Ford offers a our engine (and a Cat engine) in both the F650 and F750, but not the powerstroke. Upon further investigation I discovered the power ratings are much higher like 300hp and 660ftlb. I inquired what mods they did to get these numbers and he told me when they put the engines in our trucks, they "choke" them down so the trucks will stay together. He then went on to say during a Cummins school he went to is where he learned all this, and that the Cummins is capable of A LOT more than what we are getting. So here's my question... could we load the software for the F650 or F750 ECM's into our ECM's? Same engine, same engine control module, just different software right? (That is what I was led to believe. ) Then we would have the engine producing the power is was built for. Maybe the big difference is more mechanical than software, like turbo or injector size... Any thoughts?
