I have a 1999 Dodge with the VP44, I put a High Output VP44 (045?)on it and I am trying to figure out if this has affected my timing any. I was told it would advance it, if so is the control chip on the VP44 doing it or is the gearing such that it is a mechanical advance? I have a smarty and an Edge and do not want to advance the timing to much. Head has been O Ringed so I am not to worried about the head gasket I just want to know where I sit. When I use the Smarty it is always set on no timing advance. Boost jumps to 50 plus with very little effort. Lots of smoke. I also have 150 injectors.
I was talked into the High Output VP44 because of the extra torque and fueling now I am wondering if I have made a mistake. I had the BD High Output on it until it went out and I loved it.
