Called Ram customer service yesterday on my 19. They still don’t have the recall parts and or software for the 2019’s. Told me they will email when the recall can be done….my truck is still running great with 35,500 miles on it.

Some year we will be notified. At least the techs will be able to do them blindfolded by then so we should have no problems post surgery.

Just wondering,
Does anyone know how much ram has to pay for this recall?
Parts and labor.

first, an intact CP4

second, with a cratered CP4

just curious what this decision to go to the CP4 ends up costing Ram per truck.

one good thing about this situation is it made me a better steward of my truck!

Hot Shot secret goes in every fill up!

thanks!!

I would think that Bosch is footing most of the cost if not all of it, btw Cummins choose the pump not FCA/Ram...

I can see that as a possibility, but the question remains.

a new Isb Cp 3. Whatever can’t be cheap to replace.

Wondering what it would have cost if not covered under a safety recall.

thanks to all that reply!

I have seen “kits” that alone cost 3 grand.
Add to that the labor and supplies, tax and other costs, it amazes me that they did the right thing.

I have nothing but good thoughts for ram now!

first, an intact CP4 About $1500 depending on the labor rate in your area. I used $200/hr as an average

second, with a cratered CP4 About $4900 including the fuel tank. I used $700 for an average priced tank (32Gallon)

Those are the recall prices. If it is a retail job you can figure about $12k for the complete job.

I heard 15K from my first time my truck broke down. But mine were both complete losses. So they got to do from the IP to the tank, twice. So two IP, 12 injectors, 2 tanks, etc, etc, etc....
Plus every fuel line and filter setup. Any and everything the fuel touched.

I find it interesting that our engines run ether a CP3 or a CP4 fuel pump but the Cummins industrial engines use this pump with little or no failures ….

These are 40,000 psi pressure washer pumps. And as you can see they do have an EGR system. The company that owns them says only issues they have had with them are on the units with the DEF after treatment system sensors.

I have a appt for Jan 3rd. Originally the dealer gave me some pushback and said no remedy for 19s yet, only 20+. Then she looked up the recall and said what do you know, 19s are now eligible as of dec 2. Also I know of people with 2019s who called after that update was released and already have the replacement in. They must have a smaller dealer without a big backlog.

Called my local Ram dealer this morning expecting to get on the waiting list. Told the service writer i needed to get my truck in for the Y78 recall, she was very nice looked up the recall and said they are now able to complete the recall, and if I could bring the truck right in this morning they can get going on it. So I dropped it off and should get it back Monday. Yippeee! :)

Nice they had the parts in stock. Somebody probably booked the recall then cancelled. Their loss, your gain. Let us know how she runs post recall.

I sent Cummins a email early on about the CP4 and they replied they are not responsible for what Chrysler uses on the engine. That made me think it was a Chrysler added fuel pump component for emissions reasons.
