Hill start assist

Studebaker had "Hill Holder" available in the 50's on their vehicles. It worked well and was liked by people who had it. It held the hydraulic pressure on the brakes until the clutch was released by mechanical means. Having an automatic in my truck I have never considered turning it on seeing no reason to. Subaru advertised a Hill Holder quite a number years ago but I never heard anything about it either positive or negative.

That sounds like a better system, holding until the clutch is released instead of for a period of time.

Only problem was early 50's Studebakers were very light in the rear end and got easily stuck on snowy or grave hills. This from a family member whose family that had one as a kid. Dear Park Ski area in Port Angeles was a real challenge also on a gravel hill at my uncles cabin at Lake Crescent. SNOKING

If RAM gets as "girly" as FoMoCo in regards to their trailer backing technology, I'm sure they (RAM) will eventually drop the HSA % to 2.756 percent :-laf

Others have mentioned coordination of the parking brake on hills with manual transmissions. I owned two manual tansmission RAM 2500's w/CTD (NV4500 & NV5600) and I never had to utilize the parking brake. A little "heel & toe" action and off I went.

When pulling my old North River fishing boat out of the Califonia delta, I had that break set. One little oopsie, and I'd be fishing for my truck at the bottom of the river. No thanks

LOL! Trust me, I use "X" chocks as well as wedgies! She ain't goin nowhere!

If if she did though, it wouldn't be pretty!
