I spent some time online this morning looking at different bumpers and grill guards. Then, tis afternoon, I changed my oil.

Does the Buckstop bolt to the frame directly, or does it bolt to the existing bracketry ... ... ..... I think there are 3 brackets per side?

Search Denver Offroad on this forum... no website I know of. Lance builds one of the nicest bumpers I have ever seen... so I bought one for my SRW. Looks good. There are pics on the search results. George

bmoeller, how do those all aluminum guards hold up in a collision?

The Ram bumper is steel, and haven't hit anything, yet.

I've looked at several Aliarc bumpers before (on 18 wheelers), and they use plenty of material. Between that, and the way they are designed, I think they could take a decent hit. Lighter, too.

Someone I worked for during college, we built an aluminum flatbed for his '83 Chevy diesel. Built it out of 6" alum I beam. He was doing 25mph on a local road, hauling a bunch of 8' fluorescent light bulbs. Cop flies up over the hill @ 60mph with his cruise on, and rear ended him. The push bar only made 2 light impressions to the bed on the back, and slightly bent a frame rail. Car was trashed. :-laf:-laf:-laf

So, if it is built right... ... ... ... ... ... . :cool::cool:

Just be sitting down when you see/hear the price. :-laf

Actually, the price may surprise you, it surprised me being all aluminum ... ... ... ... the TDR price is even better.

I suggest you call Randy at Ute Ltd. He seems like an alright guy and will answer all of your questions without making you feel rushed. I'm not certain it's an advertised price.

bmoeller ..... that's what I meant, aluminum on the big trucks.

In my last 3 Dodge CTD I have hit 3 deer. 1 per truck. It has cost me some $4,000+. That was for the first 2 trucks. $1,000 commercial deductible, motels, lost work etc... . this time... I won.

I emailed Randy yesterday about publishing the TDR price he gave me on my Bull Bar. He responded with my shipment tracking info, and never said either way? The price he gave me was $1,500. 00+shipping, which I thought was a steal!

Lonestar bumper? That is what mine is. Nice bumper, but the finish is crap. Poor or no prep before powdercoating. Gonna have mine redone. NOT happy.

Mine is actually a Gage. Made in Schulenberg TX. The powder coat on this bumper is actually very good. The only bad spots are on the ends. I fixed that with some black industrial pipe coating.

That's another good thing about the aluminum bumper, besides a sleeker design and only weighing 150#. A little aluminum polish, soap and water, and it's ready to go! No sandblasting and re-powder coating.

a little black krylon goes a long way. How would that aluminum hold if you hit a 200 lb hog going 70 mph?

I bet you'd be surprised how strong a heavy sheet of aluminum is. Especially after it has been formed into a shape.

You can also make a bumper so stout that a seemingly minor fender bender turns into a tweaked frame.
