Is is possible? Reason I ask is I might have found a working used one to hold me over until spring when I have more money to buy a hpvp or a stage 1 monster.

Short answer is no it will not work.

Ok, I almost tried this last week. I 'borrowed' the SO vp44 from my other truck to troubleshoot a fueling problem. I considered putting the HO vp44 on the other truck just to see if it would work. I didn't get that far, though.

But, I don't see anything in the ECM program that would prevent the SO engine from running with the HO vp44. The calibration maps are different, yes, but the program itself is the same. Perhaps the programs were different long ago, but the recent ECM programs (SO vs. HO same year) share identical code.

So, it remains a mystery, until someone that's done it gives us an update.
