Holset HY-55V Turbo... Where to buy?

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Primary charger questions.

Hooked up TST Powermax, got a question

VGT turbos are hard to get a hold of. Find a holset dealer and see if they can get one for you. I don't know of recent events but IVECO used the 55 exclusivly on there cumming powered trucks. OOHHH and expect to pay over 2500 per unit last I checked about 2 years ago.

Also... that turbo requires electronics to control th variable vanes. It is not like the garrett unit

Its a variable vane? I thought it was a variable nozzle type?

This turbo uses air pressure to control the variable nozzle.

I would just need to build some kind of controller to control vane actuator air pressure based on boost pressure.

Or maybe just build the unit so that on launch (or while towing heavy) I can use a toggle switch to close the nozzle. Then on launch open it back up for good top end.

nozzle. . your right, its been a long day. But for the money... . a set of twins will more than provide more than the single HY.

If you find an older VGT, on EBAY and seen one at a Cummins vendor at a race, they are boost actuated and dont need a comp and this is what one of the cummins guys said.

That sounds like pretty good stuff :) Wonder what years they made it?

none of these turbos are "boost" actuated. when the actuator is at rest, the housing is in "large" format. it needs about 40psi to close it down to a spool-able size. and they hy55v is a vgt, not a vgn. check out these threads.
