the next big event

I finally got around to checking out the infamous democraticunderground.com tonight. I've heard much about it on talk radio shows so I thought I'd surf on over.

Man oh man :--) are there ever some angry people on that site. I mean REAL anger, not just ordinary discontent.

Mind you I am not a medical professional but I left with the distinct impression that some of the individuals that post there are just a little unstable. Maybe more than a little.

However, the most significant feature of the site is the fact that ONLY "progressives" are allowed to register and post. I guess that little stipulation makes it far easier for one point of view to "win" the debate, but when did preaching to the choir make a difference?

Their mantra, repeated over and over and over again is "Bush is stupid. " I guess us conservative types are supposed to be won over by that powerful and articulate argument and since we aren't, they're ANGRY!!! "Bush is stupid" and "Conservatives are stupid"... apparently the minds behind democraticunderground consider this a profound argument against conservatism.

Sorry, when I'm looking for profound, thought provoking reading, I think I'll stick with Rand and Orwell. DU don't cut it.

Passion is a poor substitute for rational thought.

Bush comes across to the falsely intellectual people as dumb because he uses everyday language to get his ideas across, as opposed to a greater usage of eloquence to convey his ideology to the American populace. In the minds of the Liberals, small words= small IQ. I think it rude and inconsiderate to intentionally try to speak above someone's head, just to make yourself look more intelligent and worldly. Remember, power is everything to these people.

Dunno if I'm falsely (or truely) intellectual, but I hold my opinion that President Bush is less than the most intelligent President we've ever had not because he uses small words, but because he uses big words badly. He's easier to make fun of than Dan Quayle was.

I have often listened to the smooth talking politicians, and just wondered who believes their spin.

Then Bush comes along, can't say one sentence smoothly, has no chance of doing spin even if he wanted to, and he is dumb.

Go figure.

But somehow, he keeps out smarting the Democrats! hehhehe:D

On the other hand, a presidents job is knowing his own limitations and hiring people to get the job done.

Bush has surrounded him self with quite possibly the best cabinet ever.

So perhaps he is much smarter than any of us realize?

Any President who can't get his agenda done with a same-party majority in the House and Senate truly IS dumb, so I dunno how exactly President Bush has outsmarted the Democrats. I agree that President Bush has a pretty good Cabinet, though I think President Clinton's Cabinet was pretty good too. As I recall, it was President Reagan's Cabinet that kept getting indicted for various crimes.

W is doing a heck of a job passing the Dem's agenda with greatly increased spending on education and now the infamous prescription drug giveaway plan.

On the other hand, he passed on the evil Kyoto Treaty which would've greatly hampered the American economy. So I guess he's trying for votes on both sides... like a true politician.

With all these southern Senators retiring, maybe the GOP can get a larger majority in the Senate and maybe things can really start to happen. :)

President Bush flew military jet aircraft and got a 1206 on his SAT. I don't think he's dumb.

Whether or not the man is dumb isn't the question. It's all about policy. The US citizenry apparently sides with Mr. Bush for the most part. The Dems don't seem to have anything to offer except of course, for criticism. Short on solutions but plenty of criticism.

Stocking Stuffers

Gotta like the "I support the Homosexual Agenda" T-Shirts they are selling.

They would make great stocking stuffers! ... no pun intended.

I wonder - if 9/11 hadn't happened, I don't think we'd be talking about how much President Bush has accomplished. I think he'd be in the failed-President category with President Carter.

Bush wasn't elected to make speaches, or come across as appealing, or to have a great TV presence... he was elected to defend this country and its way of life. If you judge this man based on his speaking ability, then you cannot be helped. Just back away from the voting booth, go home, everything will be taken care of. :D

But he wasn't elected for that, at least no more than President Clinton or his predecessors. He was elected to continue this nation of the path of prosperity and peace that we'd been on for so many years. The events of 9/11 weren't on anybody's mind before it happened. And President Bush didn't do a darned thing before those events - can you name a single presidential initiative before 9/11/01?

The President's duty

The oath of office is always: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. "

While it is a nice idea, there is no mention of the economy or making pretty speeches in the Presidential Oath of Office. I completely agree with what CWebster said. Besides, if one man (other than Alan Greenspan) can make an economy fail or prosper, the system is weak.

But the oath of office isn't WHY the people elect a president. They elect him because he says certain things, supports certain agendas. There's no mention of national defense either, just defense of the Constitution.

And what initiatives did President Bush put in place before 9/11 to defend either one? What did he do to fight Al Qaeda?

I believe that President Clinton's Secretary of Treasury (Rubin if I remember correctly) did plenty to keep the economy going great guns - while it is cyclical, there's plenty of tools both the Fed AND Treasury have to effect certain changes upon it.

Could not have said it better myself. bg:D

One of these days I'll have to surf over to that website. I'm betting it scares the heck out of the Republicans by being just as nasty and hateful as they are. Just check any of the many anti-Clinton websites. They use "Bush is Stupid" just like the right uses "Clinton is a Liar". Turnabout is fair play!

Clinton was and is a LIAR. "I did not have sex with that woman". What the he!! was that on her dark blue dress. Talking about being DUMB! "What IS the definition of IS?"

I'm from Arkansas. 1990 "If I am elected governor, I will complete my term. I will not run for the office of the President of the United States".

You can think the President is dumb all you want, he got elected to the highest office of the most powerful country on the planet. I'd say he's not real stupid, he's just not as full of I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER as most politicians IMHO.

Actually, I don't think the President is stupid at all - but I don't think he's a very good President. As to President Clinton, Congress had no business asking those questions - they were nobody's business but his, his family's, and Monica Lewinsky.

While Bush43 did not claim to invent the internet, I voted for him anyway, and I will vote for him again in '04. The fact that many people are doing that is why I think that the Democratic Party is throwing nothing but a bunch of chumps in to the race on their side. Basically, sandbagging.

As far as fighting Al Gayda, I think that he responded quite well when they did something on his watch. I'm certainly glad he didn't just lob some remote control missles at a deserted training camp. Billy Boy really showed them a thing or two when he did that.
