I got to play with my Smarty a little bit yesterday. THERE IS NO MORE HESITATION WHEN YOU HIT THE GO PEDDLE, THE TRUCK IS VERY RESPONSIVE! The first program I tried was the 90hp with timing and the TST off. Ran strong, but I had a hard time driving it without making smoke. Then I tried the 60hp program without timing and the TST on 3x1. You can leave the torque settings on the TST low because the Smarty provides PLENTY of low end fueling. With this combo, OH MY GOD, it pulls HARD! :--) I like the idea of running the lower hp programs without timing on the Smarty and then use the TST to dial in more power on the fly. BTW, you can make smoke like you have never seen before.

questions

marco or bob:

1 ive been wanting a smarty for my 2nd gen, will i be able to upgrade/download it to the CR version when i purchase a new truck in the near future?

2 will there be optional downloads available with duration and fuel pressure enhancements for the CR therefore eliminating any additional chip/box purchases & stacking?

3 has it been possible to eliminate the 3rd injection event?

does the smarty have boost fooling? i'd like to get rid of my Ramifier. i never turn it up because of my injectors and stock drivetrain. i'd like a bit of timing on the bottom to help spool my SPS 64. sounds like you did good, Marco! congrats!!... james :D

Yes, smarty takes care of boost fooling. :)

1. The vp smarty is totally different than the cr smarty. the electronics would need to be swapped out for a charge.

2. Where we are today is only the beginning  The smarty is awesome ran alone

3. Yes and the horsepower decreased and the egt's increased :(

Smarty + twins + modded CP3

Anyone tried the Smarty with twins and modded CP3 yet?

With the modded CP3 + twins the low end is very strong with minimal smoke so I'm wondering what effect the Smarty would have on this. I loved smoke when I first started BOMBing, but now it's lost its novelty especially with fuel prices the way they are now as well as the public perception of smoky diesels...

Also, do the Smarty programs coincide fairly well with the latest-and-greatest DC flash programs available via the DRB?

Yes, everyone please be sensable with smarty. This is a well engineered product that brings a lot to the table.

Would the following be considered sensable? (I'm asking seriously, never did mods to my truck before):

Intake, Exhust, DTT VB/TC and keep smarty on 30,60 or 90hp settings?

Would this setup support care free driving (e. g. use the go pedal how you want)? or wound I have to accellerate moderately to avoid breaking something?

I'm asking becasue I'm going to schedule the DTT work next week (and not sure if I should do more than TC/VB - and the other basic Fred Swanson recommends) and I plan on getting the smarty (I'm on the list) when it comes out for 06's.

All this talk about smoke & more smoke, are there CaTCHERS on the Smarty that won't draw attention to the feds, If not what chargers are gonna kill the smoke? Aurora 2000, SPS62 or??

Tell them up front what you have and what you plan to have (power wise) down the road and let them decide. I've had mine dug into three times for upgrades. I should have did everything at once and saved the labor on the other two tear downs.

Face the music. . you WILL add more power to the ground sooner or later. :-laf

the silver bullet does a good job keeping the smoke down :-laf

Had a little time to play with the Smarty yesterday...

For my stock truck... the #1 setting feels "peppier" than the 60 Horse settings, power seems to hit immediately, and not even really "hit" it's as smooth as stock.

Little bit of smoke on the 60 Horse with Timing on my truck, nothing bad, I could tell there was more horsepower, but somehow, the #1 setting to me was more fun.

Just for S-n-G's (Told myself I could just go easy and have a 'lil fun)) I did 130 Horse with timing, That was COOL! but...

I don't wanna get Metaphysical on anyone here... but... I swear the Spirit of my poor clutch came up through the Shifter boot, wrapped it's scrawny metaphorical fingers around my neck, gave my head a good shake, and whispered no-no-no little boy. :-laf

... ... ... there might have been a "touch" of slippage in other words.

Anyway... ... .

I'm having a lot of fun... btw Marco and/or Bob... which setting is the best for fuel savings? (I assume #1?)

and...

Which is best for a stock truck towing around 12,000 lbs. ?

Thanks guys! Not a LICK of buyers remorse here!

my neighbor saw the best fuel economy on the 60 hp vs 30 hp software

weight camper and trailer 17K

stock 11. 2 mpg towing

30 hp program 12. 9 mpg

60 hp program 14. 7 mpg

mconstable,

This smarty is really fun isnt it !!! Hey, the 30 HP program kicks a** and the throttle response is , well , I cant , oh what the heck,

the throttle response is "Holy shi*, where did that come from ?" :-laf

My wife can't eat candy :{

So I guess I need to find some other way to swing a smarty.

I really hate the stock torque management off the line lack of performance.

Then again how is the quick throttle response going to affect the trans life expectancy?
