Happy Birthday to my Truck

Colorado is getting dumped on this week and Fort Collins has already gotten about a foot in 12 hours. Supposedly there is another foot on the way. Some of you will laugh at this amout of snow, but for the Front Range in Colorado, this is no small blizzard. Fortunately I have a 3/4 ton Cummins that will plow through just about anything the weather throws at us. Today I must have seen a few dozen cars stuck in this wet mess, but I really didn't notice a thing. Quite frankly I would be surprised if my truck was phased in the face of this blizzard, but I am proud of its handling nonetheless. On the way back from class (all of which were cancelled) I drove by a couple of girls who managed to get their four cylinder coupes stuck in the snow (makes me wonder why they're going to college in the first place) and I felt obligated to push them out and on their way. First gear did the trick and they rendered much thanks. Oh how I love this truck!

24" + so far here in SummCo and more on the way! I had to pull a couple of Yota's (with w-i-d-e tires) out just to get out of my parking lot this AM.

I'm home with the kids - Snow Day!!!

My truck wants to go out and play - I think I'll have another pot of coffee first...

This stuff is coming down fast, but it's melting fast too. Man are we gonna have MUD!

I went to school this morning also, unfortunantly my classes weren't cancled :{ . These people move here for the outdoors and the snow and then buy vehicles that are worthless in this weather:confused: . I say let it snow, we need it.

tajensen, what are you going to school for?

I'm studying Fishery Biology and minoring in Military Science. I share your thoughts on "worthless vehicles. " I can't imagine what it is like in Boulder, with all those hippies and their old beaters.

Good to see there is another CSU guy on here, I'm getting a double major in Ag Business and Animal Science, will be done in Dec. Oo. I just drive by and smile real big:D , unless of course they are of the female variety. :D

WE had about 2" here in Ellicott as of about 3 o'clock. It is coming down fast, and visibility is about 1/2 mile. I NEED to go to the Springs for some stuff, but my fiancee says it is too snowy and we're going to get "white-out" conditions any minute. I may go anyway, just to spite her. Heck, she grew up in WISCONSIN, and talks about all the snow they got up there when she was a kid. Of course, she never drove in it, so she thinks it is worse than it is. ANd her parents are not the best drivers the world has ever known either. Not to make myself out to be better than I actually am, I just TRY to use a little comomon sense.

We could use the moisture, and this stuff is WET. Not lilke the last snow we got- still couldnt make a decent snowball after 3 days of sunshine.

Daniel,

avoid it if you can. Further West you come the worse it is.

I-25 closed at Larkspur.

West of monument is more than 3' drifts and blowing hard. A lot of speed in a 4wd, or chains, to get out of here now.

My 2020 JD 2wd with a blade on for weight was having all sorts of trouble in this wet glop, not even plowing, just driving in it with new rear tires.

Not sure if the springs is turned to rain or not though, or melting as it hits!

later, jon

I'll second that Joe. Weird storm in the Springs, it looks like there are clear boundaries on where it's hitting. Fountain/Security has less than a couple inches but I'm told Black Forest has Feet!

Send some down our way! We wanna play too! :D :D

Case of the Dumb A$$

After driving down my alley to the the stree at 4 this morning, decided to swing around the block and make some tracks the lengtn of the alley for the neighbors (who will probably have more sense than me and stay inside). Turning off the unplowed street into the alley was my undoing. The section of the alley I already drove thru was only about 18" deep - this end was drifted good. Snow half way up the grill. Got about a truck length in and I'm dead. This wet, heavy stuff gets a hold of you and doesn't let go. Half hour with the shovel later I'm moving but the neighbors don't have tracks in the alley. Brings back fond memories of growing up in Western Montana.

Wow!! This is great!!:--) Talked to my parents this morning up at their cabin (Crystal Lakes, near Red Feather) and dads 01 GMC 2500 8. 1/Allison is COMPLETELY covered in snow, both from snow drifts and the 4' + of snowpack they have got in the past 36 hours. Good thing they are prepared up there!

Here in Greeley only 7-8", no big deal.

I called my staff this morning and closed my Wheatridge office (they were real bummed  )

How you holding up K_Arts? Your pretty close to DIA, what your situation like?
