well this is the learning to weld project this is what is looks like so far I may later change the d-rings to something diff, they are rated at 13k. and I have to build the ends alittle more to bend around and cover where the the body bushing mount is. the top is 1/4 and has 1/2 reinforce strips under if I ever choose for a top mounted winch. Im happy with it for now.

That looks absolutely awesome! Willing to share the build details? My bumper is looking like crap and I've been thinking about doing this exact thing.

well its in my head my old friend that was and is teaching me we did this in 2 days. started I would have to just draw a rough picture of the pieces and you would get the idea. its funny Im just over 6' tall and weight 215 I can sit on the bumper and have my legs through the bar like a my son in a shopping cart

3 coats of primer and has hammered spray paint on it now soon will be coated with bedliner. I used alot of things again this is my young grasshopper days of welding. cut off wheel. grinder, got to use a plasma and band saw. I used a certain type of silicone he had to feel in some small spots after the primer. but all and all it cost me some time, some laughs, couple burns and little $

just a heads up the guy that was doing this bumper ended up making a full time job of this stuff and more. here is the web site if intrested in bumpers rock sliders and alot more. Home

I thought 'you' were building it... ?

either way, I like the bumper.

I was learning and still attempting to learn to weld. when I met him he was doing this stuff on the side and now has expanded to a full buisness. I'm a horrible welder. sorta like my omish electrical abilities:-laf

What are those silver things on the lowest edge, each side of center... steps or fog lights??

BTW Looks nice!!

they were cheap led fog's since I have added 4" round but need to either bucket the bumper to add the lights for protection or add a lower boxed in area because my fogs are not protected. this weekend will be seeing him to build rock sliders so may tackle that same time.

I'm interested in some wheel to wheel sliders for my 2007 Longbed. Do you know how he attaches them to the frame?

Thanks,

Steve

well legally on a 3rd gen if you weld to the frame your warranty is out the window. I know they also said if you drill x-ammount of holes same with the warranty. on my 2nd gen I'm putting a plate on the frame then welding to the plate. I'm sure if someone wanted you can make bolted on clamp that goes around the frame and then weld it to the clamp. I guess there are options just pending on keeping warranty or not.
