Where to sense fuel pressure on 05 CTD

Well, when I first put the tst/ez, sticks and turbo on I was very very disappointed. A few days ago I made a rail cap and now this thing hauls a**. Before it wouldn't even slip the clutch, now if I just barely get in it in 4th, 5th or 6th the clutch gets smoked. The tick tick noise at idle is gone, it cranks up faster. I just wander how long it will be before it pops an injector or fuel rail. It can't be good to run the cap all the time, but I just can't make myself take it out. Whens someone gonna build us a good relief valve?

I'm not familiar with the cap. Is it removable? Do you think yours could have been popping off at a lower pressure than it was supposed to?

I would guess with the stock CP3 and as many fueling mods as you have, super high rail pressures are probably not a big problem for you. Have you checked your rail pressure at WOT? Mine has been capped for a long time now with a modded Cp3 and no problems yet. Just cross your fingers. :-laf

I believe Industrial Injection was working on a functional valve that opens around 30,000 psi or something like that. I don't really know the particulars. Also one of the admins over at CumminsForum works on pressure relief valves for a living and he is working on one: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3690

I recall reading where Reb B said you can take the banjo bolt out and tap the hole for an 1/8" pipe. Install the plug, reinstall the banjo bolt and your done. I'm sure there are other ways also.

what's not easy aboput tapping a hole? It's already there and can be done for less than $1. 00.

then you can never re use it if you need to (going to the dealer) :{ ---your also forgeting about the return line on the cp3 to the filter block, that has to be addressed as well, we have new kits coming out soon that will incoporate the stock relife valve. :-laf

EXACTLY THAT WHO WANTS TO TAP A HOLE IN A RAIL THAT PUSHES CLOSE TO 30,000 PSI.

hey guys, don't shoot the messenger, I have a cap. :D Beside, not to climb on a soap box, but I wouldn't even think about taking my truck into the dealer if I had enough mods done that I needed a rail cap.

What are you talking about, Lloyd? I thought the dealer still fixed your truck under warranty. :D :-laf

On a serious note, you said exactly what I was gonna say. If you have enough mods that you need a rail cap, you don't want to be talking to the dealer anyway. Unless a rail cap is the only mod you need to make power. :-laf

yeh, for chassis work. ;) I would never take it in for engine work, I wouldn't trust half the d/c techs with my baby. :-laf

i've replaced many bone stock trucks relief valves with rail caps( yes they were bad )--the rail cap does not mean you need power to match it
