Horton Fan Clutch #996018 CCW is the part number I am running. I bought and installed my system brand new last summer '07. Since mine is in a Ford it didn't just drop right in, ate up a radiator on my first test drive.

The fan was custom made by Turbo Auto Diesel. They can make the fan blades any length you need. I chose to stick with the stock 21" but now wish I had gone bigger for even greater cooling capacity, not that I need it.

I did not install the Derale #16749 thermostat because they never told how or where to mount it. I use a lighted SPDT switch on my dash to control fan lockup. I just have to remember to glance at my water temperature gauge when driving at low speeds for extended periods of time, or towing a load up a big hill. I usually let it get up over 210 unless I lock in anticipation of a big hill.

This fan moves a lot of air. It will blow you hat off if you stand beside the truck with the hood up looking at it and the engine revved. I would some day like to have it come on automatically, but it is nice to know that it won't accidentally kick on while I'm working under the hood. You can grab this preferably using a glove and stop it if it is unlocked. It spins but not locked. The fan is very tough, thick plastic. 24 valves turn the opposite direction, that is why this kit is for 12 valves only.

did any of you find out more information about this stuff since the last post? i have another thread going that we are working on getting some of this stuff together. these guys might be out saving grace. the mag clutch is available but not the fan or the switches. the fan is the only thing that currently has not been sourced. mwilson found the info on the clutch and i have sourced some possible switches.

I imagine the reason the A/C pressure switch is no longer in the kit because the original kit was designed for use on first generation trucks with A/C systems using R-12 refrigerant. R-134A A/C systems in the second generation trucks would require a different pressure switch. The connection to the high pressure line test port and the pressure on/off settings would be different on second generation trucks.

I installed a Horton kit on my first generation truck and it worked very well.

The Horton was inexpensive......

Until Ma Mopar bought? them out or something like that. I called Horton is '96. I could get the whole Cummins B5. 9L kit for $400.

I held off.

Big Mistake

I spoke with Horton on the subject 2 years ago and I spoke with one if the engineers. The reason it was discontinued for Dodge applications was Dodge refused to assist with keeping Horton up to date on the changes they were doing to the trucks. I guess one too many cases of the customer not being able to install it cause Dodge again changed something without Horton knowing out an end to it.

No, Ma Mopar did not buy them out.
