To add to Dutch and Di's experience in Arizona with his recent surgery.

My MIL was hauled off Friday, my wife had to battle with the local hospital to transfer her to the big hospital in Bangor. After a 3 hour fight she got the transfer.

My observation over the last 10 years of dealing with hospitals has brought me to the following. .

If you have a loved one in the hospital PLEASE have someone with them at the very least during the day. It is terrible.

Di's experience is not an isolated incident, I don't care if it as simple as getting a puke pan, needing a piece of toast, meds, consultations, whatever. Someone needs to be there to keep an eye on things.

Don't leave them there alone.

If I have to work double time to keep my wife with her mother, then that is what I will do. Period.

Mike. :)

The last time my DAd was in the hospital he got a staff infection and they were putting iron in on the same side as is other medications. My mother kept notes of everything the nurses and doctors said , that is the reason we caught the iron mishap ( performed by a rent-a-nurse). This was back in 2000. (Because of other health issues he did not make it out. )

Kids

I'm having knee replacement in 2 day's. The wife will for sure be there but the kids one is a Fireman/Paramedic and my Daughter is a Flight RN in the Air Force said that they will be there around the clock. The hospital said no problem buy why? they both just looked at the Doctor and Head Nurse and said any other questions ?? Makes an old man like me feel better with the crew looking after me. ;) I guess that paying for UCLA and USC tuition wasn't such a bad thing after all. AND JASON IF YOUR READING THIS AND I KNOW YOU ARE. THANKS FOR LOOKING AFTER THINGS AT HOME LOVE UNCLE BIG:)

PS JASON DONT DRINK TO MUCH OF THAT BEER IT WILL SNEEAK UP ON YOU
