We came down the Wa, Or, Ca coasts and then inland at Moss Landing, Ca, as we got into the hot weather the truck has to spin over a bit to start when warm. Thoughs???

I am thinking I maybe need more heat shielding between the turbo and the BHAF. I have Larry B's turbo mounted heat shield only.

Also I relocated the lift pump a couple months before starting this trip.

I am not going to check for codes until I am back home in Washington State!!!!

What, the truck is gonna know it's in hot weather?

I live in Houston and have yet to have a hot weather starting issues in 11 years on a 96 or 7 years on an 89.

Cold weather - diesel does some unique things but hot - usually not.

Cheers,

Nitz

Well you have a mechanical engine and I have an electronic one. Now that I am in cooler weather I am not seeing the issue. I may have to install a bilge blow pointed at the VP44, I think that is what RWEIS did. SNOKING

Can't imagine what warm temps would do to hurt starting. My '02 just loves the weather in Mexico in January. You sure you didn't get a bad load of fuel or something?

Hot hard start can be a sign of the computer going out on the VP44 as well.

Mine did that for a few months before taking a dump. I never got any codes even after the truck stopped for good! Only a code reader could see the codes..... now I have a smarty.

Good luck, John

The computer on the VP44 won't show any codes according to the guys at Blue Chip.
