Hey Guys how about a new forum for nut cases (like me)who puts a "Cummins Diesel" in just about anything with wheels. Lets face it, Dodge doesn't build a truck for everyone, (but who does)so if you can't buy it, build it ! There is a lot of knowledge out there on this subject, and it would greatly help others out in not having to make the same mistakes again, not to mention saving other members a ton of money and their weekends at the same time. So how about it, do you all think a new forum covering truck conversions, would be worth while ?

1985 DODGE 1 ton Crew Cab(imported from California with no rust) W/8' box converted to 4X4 in 1999. Converted to a non-intercooled 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & 5 speed Getrag in 2000(wife can't drive a stick :). Freshly rebuilt and balanced Cummins. Rebuilt Injector pump and tweaked. 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end, 205 transfer case, 16" Goodyear GSA Wranglers and LE Package and a Sony CD Stereo. Next add-on some “Banks” toys ! Wish Dodge would build a new Crew Cab in 1 ton. Last year for the Crew Cab was 1985. If you want to know why I did all of this, 2 kids, one on the way and I can't stand Ford and Chevy. CCD,

I have to second the notion since my truck is on its way from Colorado and I am in the planning stages for a Cummins swap.

You've got my vote! It would be an interesting place to share any tricks we've learned to make a guy's conversion a little more painless. Also be good place to go when
ya need a little moral support.

If everyone who's interested would post here, we could get a good count. If there's enough support for it, I'll go to bat for ya, though I don't really carry as much weight here as I do in my sneakers #ad

I'm even interested in a conversion - making the Power Wagon into a 4BT or 6BT powered monster masher #ad

Great idea! I like reading about conversions, and some day I'd like to drop a 5. 9 in a '69 D-200.

Hey lets call it Cummins Different lol. I'm all for it. Along with my 75 crew cab power wagon I have other things I'd like to put a Cummins in like my 67 crew cab, or someone that has a 4 cylnder cummin in a jeep.

------------------

1975 crew cab power wagon had a 440 now has a 93 cummins atuo trans. 6" lift 33" swampers pw seats pw locks. pulls a 30' gooseneck trailer. lots of fun.

You have my vote. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a Cummins in my wifes mini van LOL.

I am also in favor of having a conversion forum. My roommate would like to drop a 4BTA in her Ranger 4x4. Turn it up to about 120 hp. Should get high 20s? LOL. Better than the 16 she gets now with her 4. 0. How practical would that be?

I have thought of buying an old Ford with a blown 6. 9 or 7. 3 (easy find) and kind of going incognito with a Cummins. But where could I find a good used Cummins 6 BT? Stroke This on a Ford!!! AHAHAHAHAHA

Daniel's current truck: 1993 W350 club cab, 5 speed, treadplate aluminum flatbed, 4. 10 rear end, straight pipes, K&N, "slightly" tweaked pump. ISSPRO color coded pyrometer and 50psi boost guage. NRA Life Member (since age 12) and d@mned proud of it. IRBCTS.

Great idea! Only let's expand it to include Allision transmission conversions as well. That way when/if our transmissions need replacing we have the option of rebuilding what we have or replacing the stock unit with a Allison.

Lets give it a go!!! It seems people are coming out of the woodwork. Besides my crewcab I have a Kaiser m-715 (currently 440 powered) That some day will have a 6bt and 2 cj5's one of wich will probably be powered by a 4bt Murfman #ad

Count me in I want a Allison in my truck for sure and seems I not the only one who wants a older Power Wagon with a Cummins. Lets go for it!

Thumbs up, kiddies! How about the ULTIMATE SUV, the 4BT powered Land Rover (60's-70's)? I've also seen a few smart guys re-power their jetboats with a 6BT for use on the Snake River! I know my son would want a low-mileage 4BT for his '75 Scout II... anyone?

Could we collaborate and make a master reference list of transmission, transfer case, driveline information etc etc that people have used to accomplish our goals of a Cummins swap.

I contacted Allison about using a 1000/2000/2400 series automatic in my conversion.

The 1000 is the transmission that is being used with the Duramax engine. The 1000 is not available for sale new over the counter.

The 2000 has no park pawl and is setup for an air brake installation.

The 2400 is rated at 300HP and 540 gross torque. It uses a transmission computer and needs to communicate with the engine computer so a 24 valve is the engine to use with this transmisson. The 2400 is available for sale new from Allison.

Sorry about going off topic here

I am glad to see this starting to take off, Everyone who is interested please post a reply, I am sure TDR can count better than FL #ad
. Also I think the new Forum should include any in formation that is available to do a Cummins conversion i. e. , transmissions /transfer cases /frames work & mounts/suspension/ wiring etc. After all isn't this what the TDR Forum is all about ?

Ok, guys... to make this more "on topic" I'm going to shuffle this thread over to the TDR / Roundtable Forum, and also put in a request in the administrator's forum. Please keep adding to it as you have been, but over there. Also, the forums may be revised significantly in the near future, so don't expect the webmaster to add it in just to move/alter/remake it in a few weeks.

Thanks guys... and keep posting your interests here, it's the only way we can judge a need/want for it.

Mark

Yea, it would be great for all of you - it would keep you from "clogging" up the other forms #ad
!!

In all seriousness, it would be great cause we are getting the forms more "individualized" and we are finding it hard to dig thru some of the threads. This would assist in locating (on a search) some answers.

just my 0. 015$ agn

This would get my vote, too. The exchange of technical information and ideas would make for some interesting posts.
(Here I go again! #ad
) I've always been a fan of Ford vans that have been converted to four wheel drive. I always thought it would be cool to drop a 5. 9 and an Allison into one of those.
