How accurate is the Westach transmission dipstick sensor?

Its actually for my Jeep CRD. I know it would be better to plumb it into the cooler lines, but the only local Jeep dealer is very mod-unfriendly and when asked the service guy said they couldn't promise I wouldn't have warranty problems if 'something was restricting the flow in the cooler line'. Its just not a fight I want to have.

I'm sure it's fairly accurate as to temp in the pan. There's a lot of discussion about this not being the best place for the probe. If you want more info about my recent install, shoot me an answer to the e-mail I sent you.

I used the dipstick sensor on my truck initially then switched to the cooler out line. The biggest difference was the instant fluctuations I noticed with the line sensor. It took much longer to notice differences with the dipstick, but it was accurate. The other thing is you have to have enough wire coiled somewhere so you can pull the dipstick out to chek fluid and then recoil and secure it, and this caused me not to check as often as I should have... ...
