I have read about a few other guys blowing them up and I blew mine up today. Are they all eventually going to blow?Is there a update for them?

A friend of mine blew his last week he only had a TS box on a otherwise stock truck an the side blew out just getting on the freeway. Good news is the dealer had a new metal one the next day an didn't give him any problems so they know the plastis ones are junk.

Do all the intercoolers on the 05's have Plastic ends? I looked at mine tonight, and it looks like all cast metal as far as I can tell? Where is the plastic parts located?

My 05 was built 10/04 and has plastic, I hear the warranty replacements are metal.

The plastic part is where the hose connects to- the side tanks.

I wish someone would post a pick of where they blow so the others with them can keep an eye out for that area. Would be neat if they did a recall but I doubt that will happen.

Where my tank blew is so obvious it is not funny. It would be hard to see in a pic unless I had it off,but the whole tank is twisted away from the core and it has a rubber o-ring(or similar to a o-ring)hanging out from the seat. Fairly big gap where air is coming out.

Does anyone make an aftermarket intercooler besides Banks? I like the look of the technicooler however it is very expencive. I suppose I will have to replace my plastic one before adding the juice.

My son blew his plastic intercooler pulling a 48' goosneck through Blythe Cal. Said it sounded like he blew a tire, but when boost when down to 2 psi, well you know... Stuck for 1 1/2 days in small town getting it fixed. The truck is an 05, 6-speed, LWB, SRW, with about 16K miles at the time.

Called Banks and the price was around $1200,not to bad because that comes with that high raise intake and all the bigger plumbing to make it fit,but they claim they only test it to 40 psi ,I hope it would be good to a little more than that.

I replaced one on an early 05 yesterday. Bone stock,it blew on a grade pulling a 5er. It peeled back the retainer on the inlet tank, about 6k miles. The superceded part is aluminum.

Coyote,

It was pure stock. He ran his Edge Juice on it for awhile form his other truck, but removed it around 5K. Sorry for the slow response, spending a lot of time looking for a job. Quit mine about three weeks ago.
