Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) How do you remove turbo silencer ring?

I have heard of people removing these silencer rings on their turbo diesels. How do I remove mine on my '97?

VERY CAREFULLY



I just used 2 little common screw drivers. Get the first screwdriver under the edge and use the second one to work the ring out gently all the way around. Once the snap ring is out the silencer will just fall out. Just be very carefull you don't cram the screwdriver into the turbo blades.

about 10 minutes prior to re-installing

I took mine out and after one (1) test drive it went back in.

I cannot take much high frequency noise and it was not pleasant.
