EGT’s running higher

I had 2 replaced under warranty. I'm pretty sure that it was the solenoids that went out. The 3rd went out just 1 or 2 thousand out of warranty and I had to foot the bill. The 4th went out at about 170K and I replaced it in my driveway after watching a youtube video. So, at 271,951 miles, I have 2 original injectors. Hope this post doesn't jinx me!`

82,000 mi. just pulled them out and installed BBI 0.5 towing injectors. Old injectors, #1 leaking and loose and #3 cracked the top. Truck idles like it did when it was new. I have 3 fuel filters and use Power Service fuel additive.

Ok so I bought this nice 2003 about 6 months ago. The original owner took great care of it , regular maintenance, but it was bone stick. It now has 190,000 miles on it , original injectors. I added an AFE air filter, and after seeing some recommendations a dual fuel filter setup that mounts underneath to the drivers seat bolts. Not long after that I started having stalling problems . Nothing terrible but it’s intermittent, I could fire it up, warm it up for a couple minutes and it just shuts down like it ran out of fuel. It will fire back up after cranking a few seconds. It’s also done it while driving . And it starts back up. Some have suggested the injectors are going bad. I don’t know enough about these 24 valves to determine that. I am adding an Air Dog pump to compliment the filters as I’m thinking it could be the lift pump. My prior ride was a 96 12 valve that had 450,000 on it with the original injectors. It was a wonderful trouble free truck .

If still have the LP on the back of the filter housing those extra filters probably over taxed its ability to draw fuel. You need to put a gauge on the CP-3 (injection pump) inlet to see what LP pressure is doing. At that age FCA and injectors are suspect as is the LP. Once you verify you have good constant pressure to the CP-3 then you can go the next troubleshooting steps if needed.

At 190k you are close to the equivalent of operations of your 97 with the CR system running a lot more pressure, much tighter tolerances, and double the operations of a jerk pump injector.

Get the in tank lift pump.
I would opt for an aftermarket pump and filtration system (pick any brand) before I'd put an intank pump in. When my 04.5 lost the OEM pump and installed the intank pump under warranty, the tech gave me back the OEM pickup assembly, if I were to install an aftermarket system. Because the OEM pump gave out without warning (which was the norm for them) I wasn't prepared to install a better filtration system. I was looking into an Airdog, but was towed to dealer and repaired same day.

I have the airdog already mounted on the frame , I just need to finish up and install the hoses and wire harness. Btw-this morning was very hard to start. Had to give it a very slight shot of ether. It also stalled briefly in traffic but started right back up.

I installed a pressure sensor on the inlet of my cp3. Replaced the intank LP Aug 17 with an intank Delphi EFG1080 and have 19-20psi running empty and lowest I have ever seen was 17psi towing our 7500lb camper up i40 at Black Mountain nc going 55. Running a Baldwin 7977 and a inline Donaldson fuel filter as well with no problems. Trying to keep the injectors going!

2004 2500 2wd. NV5600 Love Shifting! 264,970miles @8102hrs. Injectors have 190,000 on them. Going strong!
Banks HiRam and Intercooler, AFE air intake and filter.
Edge CTS2 - added pre egt, Lift pump press and NV5600 temp sensors, stock tires.

Truck is now at 107,500 on (I think) original injectors. Purchased at 89,000 all stock. Idles smooth, no smoke or haze at idle, no starting issues at all. I added dual under seat filters at 90,000. Typically add 16 oz of 2:1 mix 2SO + Diesel Kleen with 3/4 tank fills.

I do see brown to black haze under heavy throttle for a few seconds, until the turbo catches up, or I see it and back off the throttle. Exhaust appears clean running steady state at 75 mph on the interstate. Can hear injector noise at idle, especially when cold.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but what symptoms would lead you to change injectors to prevent a failure requiring an overhaul? Longevity is my goal.

)5, 3500, 5.9, beefed 48re,triple disk converter, and better pressure body, hauling horses....now at 206,007 miles, and still getting from 12 MPG, when hauling 23,000. and about 22MPG when totally empty on I-5 north thru central valley. Totally stock engine, injectors, and running 15-40 Rosmella t5

About 110,000 miles on my '04.5 purchased new. No issues. I have and do use AMSOIL additives. The lift pump is stock (!). I do carry a spare just in case.
