I have run the cam long enough to pass on some of my results and thoughts. Keep in mind these are just my opinions from what I observed before and after the cam.
Hp
Well this one is fuzzy, because my truck has never seen a dyno. So as an obersvation only I am going to say that there is more power to it from SOP, but not enough to make you go
WOW.
If you mash the throttle you have every bit the response, but there seems to be less hit when the turbo lights. It just feels like power comes on a bit more the whole way, if that makes sense. There is not really so much difference that I can say for sure, just a SOP impression.
As far as the turbo lighting sooner, pretty hard for me to dinstinguish that and drive the truck.
EGT
This is most definitely less, and across the board at all power levels. At cruise power I see 50 - 150F reduction. At 60 mph (1800 rpm) closer to 50F and at 70 mph (2100 rpm) closer to 150F. The higher the power level the more the reduction. This is the first thing I noticed when I first drove the truck after installation.
On engine shutdown, the EGT seems to drop to 300F (or below 350F) faster. I have never timed it either way, but just seems to settle down faster.
Boost
The boost pressure has dropped. Across the board I see a 1 - 3 psi drop at any constant power level. If I romp on it I am going to say that I might see as much as 4 psi, but this is really hard to say for sure.
Lift Pump
My next step in the progression will be to have one of Don M's special 12v LP's installed with bigger piping.
Sometimes when you want to see something, miraculously you see it. Take what I say with a grain of salt. A chart recorder would be nice to do some accurate testing.
