Not yet,but if it is any consolation there are others that are even easier to steal. There has been tv expose's done on this topic, but the only thing they accomplish is to teach rookie theifs how to improve thir game :(

Jeez! And to think I normally leave my keys in the ignition... oh, the horror! :D

Yeah but everyone in Anchorage has a Grizzly in there yard to protect there Dodge. Ford owners don't even bother.

Not sure if the site I posted earlier is where I got mine. Just went to search and typed spare tire lock and that's what I came up with. I used to have the site I got mine on as a favorite until my HD crashed and lost everything I hadn't backed up on disk. My last PC from now on it's Mac.

As long as we are securing our gas caps, spare tires, door locks and tailgates another thing to do is cover up the vin # in the dash at the lower left hand corner of the windshield. Thieves have taken the vin # from cars and trucks and walked into any dealer and told them that they locked or lost there keys and request they make another key from the vin #. Some dealers have made such keys without question. I keep my vin# covered by sliping a 3 x 5 index card over it.

Very, very good advice. I've told people this same thing and they look at me like I'm crazy. I know people that this has happened to. I've always covered mine and have the locking gas cap and the steel sling and pad lock on the spare. The door thing is a new one to me, going to look into that. We spend too much money on our trucks to let some jack*** take our stuff.

Oversized tires on mine + big exhaust means no spare under the truck, it sits in the bed with my dog standing on it. No one has taken it yet. To be honest I'm more worried about someone stealing my dog.

Yeah, ain't that the truth! :) Odds are that no one who 'would' steal a spare would need one this size. My spare sits in the bed of the truck, along with a log chain. Not worried about anyone stealing it. My dogs stay at home though. Don't think that they can get up into the bed. I was thinking maybe they could get into the trunk of the old Chrysler, but I don't think they can even do that.

Kryptonite Cable With Combination Lock

I guess this one is even superman proof!

I also saw a new stlye at Walmart yesterday that the cable just slides through the lock, pretty neat and about the same price as this one.

This will also keep your tire safe (won't fall off into traffic!) if your cable breaks.....

Spare Tire Retainment

wow i am glad I don;t live in So Cal :(

 It doesn't matter where you live when the hoist mechanism fails and leaves your tire dragging on the ground like mine did. Fixed under warranty but I don't trust it anymore.

mine does not fit under in the stock location so that is not an issue for me. I have mine in the bed verticle behind the driver and have never worried about it being stollen

Bandits...

I just got under my truck to clean it from this winter and see the spare tire is gone. I thought the holding mechinism busted, but it looks fine. I see recent witness marks in the lowering socket.

I called the police and want a full investigation. :-laf

I Like DC's solution for the 05's cable and padlock that just fits around the tire through the rim. That tire is NOT coming off the rim

Happened to me on an old p. o. s. winter beater I had. 85 Blazer, right through the door under the lock they punched a hole. Took my nephews bags that had their cloths in, my stereo, leather coat and cell phone. Left my Dewalt cordless in the case! I gave the cops 3 phone numbers the cell provider got before I cancelled it and let me tell you they jumped right on it... . ya right!
