How to replace front axle u joints

What tools do you need and how hard is it to get it apart.

Not too difficult depending on how seized up things are. Do a search on freespin kits here and some one posted a list of tools he used for the job. this will be everything you'll need. if your doing this this is the time to replace ball joints. I oredered U-joints and when I had things apart found that the ball joints had gone bad. so delayed a day for those to come. The ball joints were a ***** to get out, lots of penetrat with a king pin and sledge hammer. grease the outside of the new ones on install and used a bottle jack to press new lowers in and a deadblow for the uppers. Could be a fluke but the Napa U-joints didnt quite fit. was not able to seat all four c-clips.

There are no special tools required for these, just the usual u-joint stuff (some kind of press, various hammers, pliers).



Job's easy if the hubs aren't frozen in the knuckles.
