Why do posts like this always turn in to crap. The TDR use to be a place to exchange ideas and knowledge. It doesn't seem to be that way anymore. I would think that the members of the TDR would be excited about any new ways to make HP. If I was a vendor and saw threads like these I wouldn't post any information either. JMHO

I say go ATS!!!!

I agree, it is absolutely impossible for anyone to do anything to their trucks that is not posted or discussed on the tdr. Let alone make more horsepower then the "super" trucks here on the tdr that everyone talks about. It is also absolutely impossible for anyone anywhere to make more then "X" horsepower on #2 without posting a dyno sheet verified by twelve dynojet technicians and one mustang dyno operator on the net for everyone to drool over. I say "X" because the number keeps changing. Ten years ago that "X" would have been 350 rear wheel horse. Now everyone that bombs is at 350. Not so impossible anymore. ;)

If you were a vendor that wouldnt post because of threads like these, then you should not come here and make claims either.

In all fairness to ATS, they did not start the post a TDR member did.

This is still a good place to exchange ideas and knowledge. However when the ideas and knowledge stretch conventional wisdom, you will need to back it up. This is just they way it is. Works this way in most every industry. We are not all experts in every field, but we are not sheep either. Many here are intellegent people that do their homework. And when new ideas come along, they want to add that new knowledge to their own. Like you said, "exchange" knowledge not make claims and hide knowledge. -- Not saying ATS did this either, just making a statement.

In the end people only wanted to know that what they have the other dont is some cool new pump mods and injectors that are in R&D. And when they get released to the public then they will give us more. This does not give away any secrets, fills curious minds in on whats happening in the industry, and backs up the claim.

My original intention was to post in defense of KGoode. He was just passing along information.

With money involved, and the attitude of certain vendors, the TDR doesn't seem to be a safe place to share information anymore. Not without getting your words, statements, intentions and meaning over-analyzed, picked apart, twisted, and at times, even attacked. Your integrity gets attacked. Your product gets attacked.

I wish I had the self-discipline to swear off posting on here, and say, adios, see ya on the track, or at the campgrounds.

Truth be told, I enjoy the cameraderie of the 98% of the TDR that doesn't engage in mindless product cheerleading, or attacking vendors. I guess that's why I keep coming back.

Keep in mind, I get around to a lot of events. Anything I say on here is something I have no problem saying to anyone's face.

Right On Briar

Briar and many more people here on the TDR are GREAT. The answers to what people need comes out to be real. The way I look at it is the venders drive themselfs do a better job to make better parts and have fun with the customers. This is what drives me to work late and give the extra back to the diesel drivers and the hope to be soon diesel drivers. Without this format and the people in it this markit does not mean anything if people can't share the info to others. We all want the same thing and that is whats new and fun. I really like my job and the people that have come along the way have been the BEST. Thanks to all of the TDR members for their input. Please help us to help you ALL. :D Oo. :D

There are an unlimited number of, and a wealth of good reasons why a vendor would not want to post.

Time: Not the 10 minutes to write it. Nope... the HOURS of telephone time when 35 TDR readers all call up to ask the same questions about something that doesn't really relate to their business or is not really available to buy.

PR: Why post here and say anything when people who have sizeable influence use the occaision to rip your products (unfairly or fairly, doesn't really matter for this conversation) and try to make you defend them.

Business concerns: Why tell your competitors what you are up to? Seems to be self-evident... to me, at least.

Plain old exhaustion. I've gotten this one directly from vendors... "I am just plain tired of answering the SAME question 35 times a night in the email". I can relate, because long ago, I used to get up to 5 emails a night asking questions about in depth technical issues... I had one person email me back daily or more than daily, for weeks straight until he thought I was mad at him, and then he refused to ever communicate with me again. Most vendors don't have a full time guy to answer the emails and take the phone calls of people who probably aren't buyers, but want to respond to something here...

The 'net factor: Those of us who have large post counts here (me included) forget or maybe don't realize that this is really quite a foreign environment for a lot of people. It is difficult to determine one's intent, one's character, or make solid judgements about the intentions of those who participate with you. Without visual cues, this is NOT just "conversation around the water cooler", but an almost new language and form of communication. Not everyone is comfortable with it, or skilled at it.

I do not have a job, at present, and over the summer, I wasn't in school, and I could STILL find that TDR consumed much of my day. How could a businessman, a vendor, take the time to be a proliferate poster and common participant?

This is one of the why's we asked vendors not to take pot-shots at each other, by name or NOT by name... We appreciate the time they take if they use it to further information and discussion, instead of tying it up with a bunch of flaming and accusations.

Is this all totally unreasonable? If so, why?

PowerWagon,

I agree there are many reasons why a vendor would not want to post here. I am ok with that. But then big claims should not be posted here either. In my opinion of course. Just like the rest of us, if you want to play you gotta pay.

Now I realize that ATS did not start this, and I tried to acknowledge that.

Like many have stated, once people thought that man would never fly, but then we did. Man thought we would never step foot on the moon, but then we did. Etc. etc. People think we cant get 600 out of a 24v, but it looks like ATS did. -- I am sure that people laughed and made fun of the Wright Brothers. People probably poked all kinds of fun at them about how stupid they were. Man will never fly. But then who got the last laugh. -- History has also shown that people easily accept conventional wisdon. And people who push conventional wisdom are challanged. This is the way it is. Its this way in most industrys and its no different here.

Competition and people that are pushing the leading edge is one of the things that make this country great. its why we have the cool things we have. But this has its price. Not just the price of parts or the potential cost of failure, but the cost of scepticism as well. If the cost is to high, dont play.

Well all of this is sure fun but what I want to know is how can I keep my 793hp ETH cool? Caught your attention didn't I? :D But seriously, I'm probably in the low 400's for power (Haven't dyno'ed the current setup and would get too damn hot anyway) How the heck can I keep my EGT's from going through the roof? I switched to a 16cm, didn't help much and lag is pitiful. I've talked to people with HX-40's that say lag is extremely bad with a manual, especially when towing. Other people say Pier's turbo is only good to the mid 300's. What is this ceramic stuff I saw a few of you talk about?

BTW when I say high EGT, I can hit 1500 degrees with only 6 or 7 seconds of full throttle and the Comp set on 3,3. The Comp any higher just spikes the numbers quicker and doesn't seem to produce more power.

I like to read between the lines and I always end up wondering why one company always feels they have to defame anothers. It would be nice for us general consumers if the vendors would just ask questions and leave the open ended remarks to themselves. Some body said that alot of information is lost because we can not read another persons face, that statement is so true and if someone leaves out a word or adds another word to the same sentence it can change the dynamics in the meaning without changeing the information. Information is valuable, but trying to pick one another apart will eventually be their own down fall.
