Which Turbo Setup Should I Run?

I plan on upgrading my Turbo & Manifold sometime at the end of winter/beginning of Fall.

I have decided on a High Tech Single Turbo Setup. Twins are tempting but I want to remain legal in most truck pulls.

I am currently running a stock HX35/12 with Scheids Delivery Valves. Turbo spools very well, but obviously I can easily peg a 1600º gauge and FAST!

I plan to sled pull 20+ times per year and also do some 1/4 mile runs.

I will be running injectors that flow approx. 10% more fuel than the 370's, with correct spray patterns. I do not plan to modify the fuel pump until I need to take this truck off the street.

For now, it needs to be a 100% streetable daily driver.

Lets hear some opinions please.

My vote goes for the 64/14.

Call Lenny @ Dynomite Diesel. He has run both on his truck. He can give you the straight scoop. I'm betting he suggest the 64/14 :)

i voted for the 64/14. That 66 will be harder to get lit... smoky/laggy, but once you get it spinning Oo. The larger charger is nice at the track, but stop light to stop light, you gotta get the boost up quick :-laf .

I tuned and drove a 12V last weekend that has a SPS 64/14 and is about 500 ish on power... ... no spool issues what so ever and could use a SPS66.

You can see what I run, no issues spooling and I know a guy that runs a HTT 66/14 on a 2001 with stock injectors and a tight transmission. These 66/14 really are easily lit. PM me if you want more info on them.

Thats the kind of input I like to hear.

Anyone else have input on this? I've pretty much decided on the Sled Puller. . But which housing? It HAS to be streetable. .

I put up with a HX40 with 16cm housing that was not in good shape. .

Can anyone tell me how much more lag it might have? Or would they be similar?

The 12cm housing might spool a hair faster but not enough that you would notice much. However your EGTs will still be really hot with the 12. I love my 14. I drive it over 400 miles a day and do a lot of city/stop and go driving and would recomend the 14cm housing all day long.

Friend has a 66/14 on his puller(01 ETC with tight convertor) and this winter he put in the stock injectors runs the box comp box on 2x3 and it spools fine. I would definately suggest the 14cm. Some of the people I know have the 12 on just the 62 and it runs a tad hot I think. You just missed the $100 off sale they were having, there are still some pretty good prices to have though. PM me if you need help.

Dan, don't you remember? I called and talked to you

I say go with the SP66/14. I previously had a 64/12 on my truck and the spool is almost the same. i drive my truck everyday and have no issues. The SP66 lowered my EGTs a couple of hundred degrees and has stronger topend. It is a tad more smokey in the lower rpms if you get into before it spooled up though. Don't look as it as having too much turbo, look at it as not having enough fuel. ;) :-laf
