I'm forced to upgrade my turbo due to oil dilution. Which would be the best option to go with if I go with stage 2 injectors? I want to keep temps in check, but want it drivable, and still usable for towing. Is the killer B what I should look at or will the HTB2 be more ideal?

I'm in the same boat. I want to get enough cooling but don't want to go to big and have it be laggy. I'm leaning more towards the killer B but also have heard that they were having surging issues on some of the killer B turbos. I guess if I did go the HTB2 route I could always upgrade to something bigger if it wasn't enough. What would it cost you to upgrade from your HTBG to the killer B?

I don't know yet. Paul has to see what is damaged internally, but the shaft has around 1/4" of play in it:(

If funds weren't an issue, twins would be on order - still might be at some point.

CLAYTON, you might also consider a B1-04 or one of the offerings from Industrial Injection. I am running a B1-04 and love the way it spools and cools, even with stock fueling. I am getting rid of mine to make way for twins, but if I was going to run another single it would be either a B1 or II PS66.

With you doing a lot of towing the Killer B should work better for you.

I have the HTB2 (clipped) on mine. I tow quit a bit. Tows really good. Really good streetable driving too. I do wish I would have gone bigger. Then I hook up the RV or the boat and I'm glad I didn't. I think the killerB would be a bit to big for towing. . 02¢ But if you're not into towing I'd do it. Go smaller, then upgrade for a couple hundred $ later if you need to.

Even with all the power goodies you have on your truck you think the Killer B would be to laggy from a stop? Does your HTB2 spool like your stocker from a stop light? What level do you have your TST on when you tow?

I don't know how to do those quote thingys so hope you understand my post madness.

The HTB2 spools a tick slower then stock. Nothing major but you can feel it. Once it lights then it's on like donkey kong (ok that was lame). Towing does great. I usually tow EZ on 1 and the TST on 4/3. This just seem to work good for me and the sizes I tow (RV 8,000lbs & Boat 6,500lbs). Don't really have to worry about temps unless I'm climbing, but with the tow haul on, I can do about 70mph at 1200degrees, RPM's at 2700. That's with either trailer. But the lag does exist when towing on flat ground and you get that small hill/incline in the freeway. RPMs drop a bit, boost drops EGT's go up. So you have to lay into to keep it from lagging. Kinda bugs me and sometimes I wish it was a bit tighter. But I've learned to drive through it. But 85% of the time I'm not towing so the bit of lag doesn't bother. Daily, no trailer, EZ on 1 and TST on 6/5 or 7/6. She lights up quick but would love quicker. That's why I think the KillerB would be laggier on towing. Maybe it's just me and the way I tow. But I wouldn't want to turn the TST up to get it to light. Then the EGT's would go up and the whole situation would void it self out. I've thought about upgrading to the KillerB, but I really want twins. I think if I did do the KillerB, I'd just have to learn the towing routine all over again. Which I'm going to have to do anyway with twins. I've actually thought about using the HTB2 as the top turbo. Anyone tried it.

I went with the 12 housing. I do like the turbo. Temp sclimb the same as stock but they stop about 1200 then climb really slow. Of course I can get the EGT's pegged by turning up the TST. But even on 6/5 I don't see 1400 unless I kept my foot into it for a long time. Where as the stock turbo would go up quick.

I've read about the auto causing some of my problems. Actually the TC causing it. Not sure really. I do have the towing valve body in it. I had everything done to my truck at one time so I can't say it was this or that. I know when I got it back it did the whole laggy thing while towing. But it wasn't as bad as it is now. The HTB2 just compounded the issue. So it might be a little bit of both. Not sure.

HTB2 was really easy to install. Did it myself in about 3 hours. Did have to trim the AFE box to re-route the boost hose. The only complaint I have with the entire thing was the quality of the down pipe. Welds were really, really bad: we had to weld up some holes, fit was horrible: the angle of the tube was way off, finish was horrible: there were spots that weren't coated. . But it did make it a lot easier on the whole process. Their customer service is awesome. I'd do the turbo again in a heart beat. If you plan on not ever doing twins then I'd go bigger like the the KillerB. Just learn to tow different that's all.
